Sniping is useless, can't collect nano catalysts

Post » Fri Jul 30, 2010 3:20 pm

What title says. First, there you get only like 32 rounds for DSG and then is the even bigger issue. You get a nice spot, snipe some bastards and when you manage to actually run so far down to collect nano catalysts crap, you find out that it has just evaporated. None. Nada. Niente. Zero. I wasted 500 nano catalysts minimum because of this in just 2 checkpoint segments.
Either make it be permanent on the ground or at least extend the time. I'm playing on Post Human and you can't just rush in and collect stuff. When you go tactical you need time and these nano catalysts don't give you any time. Unless you're willing to sacrifice that for time. Which i find a bit lame...

Nano Catalyst disappearance...
It's a common issue. A lot of people are having it. And Crytek has already been reported about it. So it's surely gonna fix in the next patch.

Yeah, but nano catalysts are disappearing from alien corpses, not from the "inventory" which seems to be the issue for most. Or did you really mean for the nano catalyst on the ground next to corpses?

I have the same problem. I've also played through the game on post human difficulty and there is absolutly not enough time to collect the catalysts. A patch would really be nice for a second play through.
Another bug i encountered was that even when i collected catalysts they wouldn't show up on the inventory sometimes and from time to time my collection was reset to zero. So it was impossible for me to get the 3rd nano upgrades.

I think its a "fresh" thing for SP and not a bug.
fresh as in, not old.
if the nano things are left out in the air to long they degrade

I also agree that sniping against the aliens is pretty much pointless. You have to fight them in close quarters or you can lose the valuable material. Really, the whole nano catalyst thing is annoying because of you having points deleted from quitting the game and all that other crap. So frustrating!

The catalyst seems to also spawn wierd depending on how you kill the enemy (at least that is what I've noticed). I've picked up a Ceph and thrown him across the room into a wall, with the catalyst forming in the air and not where I killed the alien or where it landed.

I have had the same prob as you all, and it really annoyed me -_- Whenever I wasn't able to catch the NC because of too many enemies, they got lost instantly. And I also had the problem of loosing all my NC's after a death. But, and that really svcked, I wasn't able to collect any NC's for the WHOLE game - I didn't even reached the second Nano-Modules. I really hope Crytek is able to fix all this probs in the second patch.

Wait, not picked up nanocatalyst isn't supposed to disappear?

They technically speaking are - the issues is with the duration of time before they disappear/can't be collected.

As it stands now, as someone mentioned earlier, the only viable option for collecting catalysts is to fight the aliens close up. If you are playing on a harder difficulty setting this is not a wise tactical option (e.g. close quarters combat simply to collect catalysts) as running out in the open is almost a guaranteed death

There is a very short window (around 10-15 secS) to collect a catalyst, additionally depending on where an alien was killed, it may be impossible to even collect the catalyst.

I am all for the risk element, and I logically "get" why the nanocatalysts should disappear, but I think the current duration is def a glitch/bug. In some instances, even with close quarters kills I couldn't collect the nanocatalysts.

I've gotten around it by trying nothing but stealth kills and luring single aliens closer for the kill to my hiding/camping spots, but it is understandably taking a lot of fun out of the game (instead of trying new tactics, im doing safe things just to collect the daman catalysts)

I hope this is fixed in a patch, ASAP.

Stop being a pvssy and engage the enemy. Stop sitting in a dark corner till you have no choice. MOVE!

I agree this is annoying and should be fixed. It makes sniping worthless against the aliens. Combined with the sometimes ridiculous distance between checkpoints, it makes the game unbalanced in some areas.

Yeah, and when it is in the air even just a little bit I have to jump to pick it up, it's like I have to bring me feet level with the bottom of the catalyst cloud.

I finished the game on Post-Human difficulty and I have no problem to collect most of the catalyst. I had to leave some behind to prevent death but mostly I catched them easily. For me the biggest problem was the catalyst somethimes dissapeir. So after I collect 12000 of them its just reset to 0 :(
Happend to me 4-5 times during the gameplay.

If your sniping, you killed your enemys in a few seconds. But you can`t collect nano catalysts. But if you make a attack with stealth, its harder to kill your enemys but you can collect the most nano catalysts.

And that is suppose to help me? So this game doesn't give you option of gameplay style, you have to be a rambo even if you prefer to be a silent assassin. That is NOT an answer, really. Besides, CQB is not nearly as fun as going with more tactical approach. I'm playing on Post Human and i'm playing a combo of stealth and range commando. I don't like stupid melee combat (apart from obvious stealth silent kills). Doing precise kills from massive distances with either sniper scope or reflex scope is far more satisfying for me. I might play it your way some other time but right now i want to play it this way. So yes, i'm expecting a fix for this as it's very annoying.
