I've got C2 running on my single core XD

Post » Fri Jul 30, 2010 7:22 am

So here's my setup.

Processor: AMD Single Core Athlon 3800+ OC'd from 2.4 --> 2.6 Ghz

RAM: 3 GB of FIRST GEN DDR @ 200 Mhz

HDD: idk like 320 GB at 7200 RPM

GPU: AMD/ATI HD Radeon 4870 with 1 GB GDDR5 OC'd to 775 Mhz Core and 1050 Mhz Memory

OS: XP Pro 32 bit

Lol right? I mean I've got C2 running @ 800 x 480 or w/e that rez is, you know what I mean. Also graphics are set to the lowest option of "High" (The **** is up with that?? High, Very High, and EXTREME?? Did they think that sounded cooler or something???) W/e, but yeah I've got decent frame rates and everything in both single and multiplayer. I just thought I'd post this if anyone was unsure of whether or not there system could run C2 at playable levels... and maybe to gloat a little XD

It is important to note though, that my system is very well organized and clean compared to most. I idle with around 30-36 processes. Also, I'm using Game Booster, but I have played C2 without it and it runs without any noticeable difference.

I like to compare my computer to one of those 80's corollas (CPU & RAM) that some dumb ass put 24 inch chrome wheels on (GPU).

What do you guys think?

Also if anyone from Crytek or EA reads this, I feel like it would be a good idea to note that the minimum system requirements could probably be lowered a little from the required dual core. I mean you might get a few more people to buy it...

Haha sounds awesome, I didn't expect mine would run Crysis 2 either on Vista with 2GB of RAM, but I've completed the campaign and the game hasn't crashed once. I even played the first two levels on extreme settings without realising; it was laggy but still playable. Graphics card is a HD 4850 and CPU is a Core 2 Duo @ 3GHz. It seems Crysis 2 is easier to run than Crysis 1, and you don't even need to meet the minimum requirements.

This is actually kinda interesting. Whereas in Crysis 1 it was about who could run it on the highest settings with the best hardware, this game seems to be about running it on the lowest settings with the worst hardware. It's kind of a weird paradigm shift.

ya i agree i played crysis 1 on my laptop and it has a 2.0 core 2 duo and 4 gb ram and a 8600mgt video card...lol and at native reslolution of 1280x800 i averaged about 30-40 fps usually on the medium settings. i was still building my now desktop which can run anything perfectly. point is crysis of any sorts is all about the gpu not cpu so much you guys have the 4000 series ati cards which are considered ancient now but they honestly were and still are VERY good cards especially the 4870 if you had like a ati 3800 it probably wouldnt even run right. i tried the c2 demo on the same laptop as i played crysis 1 on and it could run ok on the then medium settings what ever those were called. crysis series is ALL gpu destined you could have a core 2 duo at 2 ghz and have a gtx 480/580 or a ati 5870 or 6890 and it would run on the highest of settings due to being gpu bound. anyhow its cool to know it runs on soo little good job!

Yeah it's weird right?? I've noticed this too, and I kind of think it's more interesting than highest FPS, cuse let's be honest. All you need for that is the newest hardware, nothing else.

Getting C2 to run on a crappy system actually presents much more of a challenge.

AAHAHAHAHAH thats pro as man, havent used a single core AMD 2.4ghz since 2003. Its 2011 and youre still using it, on the best game out ahahaha. Not luxury but it will do. Also Minimum System requirements is only a guideline, its just there then putting nothing at all.

Hi guys, my first post. I probably got you all beat on the ancient hardware front. I'm running a 2007/early 2008 top of the liner, lol. It's a q6600 @3.4ghz, 8gigs ddr2@1000mhz, 8800gtx in 3way sli config. Yep ancient by todays standards, heck even ancient by two years ago standards, but it was my second build and my first all out (financially) build. Guess what game i built it for??? Yep you guessed it, the original Crysis. I averaged 40 frames on very high @ 1080p with that Crysis 1 and my setup and was proud of it. This was before all the nice configs that would follow ofcourse. It's kind of interesting that I can run Crysis 2 at 1920x1080 with extreme, with one 8800 @ 40plus frames thoughout, (dx9, i know). If there is one lonely area that console porting this has had on my beloved Crysis is that it can run easily on just about any setup. Pretty proud of what they did with the game in every area considering its a console port. I ofcourse have my gripes with pirates being able to play along with us online, and the lack of graphical options, and the biggie for me atleast, no sandbox out the gate, but I'm enjoying C2 for what it is. Peace everybody.
