How not to be a noob?

Post » Fri Jul 30, 2010 6:16 am

Alright, I have been holding off on getting Crysis 2 Multi player for the simple fact... I'm scared, I am a noob, and I don't want to look like an ass.
So how do you bulk up on practice to not be an idiot. Like on Crysis wars I am such a damn noob! I can play all the campaigns on Delta, and post human warrior. [SP I do really good] But MP I FAIL!
So is there any advice for a little noob cake like me? I mean I ani't horrible, but seriously I need the person to be practicably retarded for me to even think about killing them.
and yes if you are trolling this post you can call me an idiot noob if you want!

Be willing to learn by the school of hard knocks. This is my second Online FPS and I had a knack for this game from the begin but my first FPS BC2 I had to learn a lot of things the hard way but I am damn proud of the skills I still can use from that game.(C-4 throwng FTW.) Stealth is important but you have to be sneak on top of cloak to really be steathly. Good players will kill you quick if they they just see a glimer....its that easy if you know what your looking for to kill a cloaked player. Armor is a must in combat but sometimes having strafing speed is better so do not armor up if your trying to hip fire strafe your target. I Could tell you more but you got your own style your going to have to learn.

Just start playing and you will pick up and get better results/scores. I started out really crappy, but I've improved pretty much since.

How to not be a noob in MP? That's easy!

1.) Do not use the JAW. (Its a skill-less weapon for ppl who want easy kills.)
2.) Do not use the Feline. (Its a skill-less hyperfast submachinegun, once again for ppl who want easy kills.)
3.) Do not use "Cookie Cutter" builds for your Nanosuit. Fit it to your playstyle.
4.) Do not use LTag to excessively spam in matches.
5.) Do not shoot "friendly" player's Holograms.
6.) Always back up your team's Flag/Extraction bearers.
7.) Crash Site. Always back up your team when holding a site. Do not run around the map trying to find ppl to kill.
8.) Don't act like an a$$hat when your team is failing or not doing as good as you. (Rude comments, etc.)
9.) Don't be a camper.

and last....

10.) Don't fail at life by being a Hacker.

That's pretty much it.

Play in unranked servers, nothing there contributes to your stats or progress so you can learn the game. There is also a "New Recruits" game modifier that is for low ranked players only.

9 out of 10 players play like this because its easy and effective..

SCARAB/SCAR/Feline /w Extended Magazines. Add a Reflex if you cant use irons.
Nova/AY69 /w Extended Magazines.
Frag/Jaw
Energy Transfer/Nano Recharge
Stealth Enhance
Mobility Enhance/Retriever

Cloak up, run around until you come across an enemy. Hit Armor mode and kill them. Recloak and repeat endlessly until you are rank 50 on the 5th reboot. If you have trouble spotting cloaked enemies hit Nanovision now and again.

Yeah, I don't cloak all that much when I play Wars. I am mostly in speed, or armor.

So let me get this straight... To be a good player you must:
Practice,
Try not to cloak too much... Get sort of a thing goin'.
Don't us RPG, have common sense, don't hack, or get cocky.
Practice in unranked servers...
and don't be a cloaknoob.....
Did I miss any?

Sounds pretty straight forward...

Use armor when turning corners, crouch helps when cloaked as it reduces the visible distortion as most people look at waist level for it, use ur grenades! Don't stay in the open and middle of maps and try to make evey bullet count especially with the lag and hit detection issues - rapid fire might help here... also when getting fired on you can jump 180 and shoot, most people don't expect this... try not to die!

Also don't run out of energy cause it will leave you like a sitting duck since they removed normal sprinting... slide too! and pop a grenade into a staircase or whatever when you don't feel good about rushing in...

How does using the most effective playstyle make someone a noob? You get the best KDR once every 35 games so it looks like you could use some advice too.

The OP asked for playing advice and I told him of the most effective ways to play Crysis 2. Giving the OP bad advice by telling him not to use Cloak because you think you are a part of some elite minority hipster group is idiotic.

Hedgehogs right, if stealth out of a fire fight is being noob then Im noob master, not saying be cloaked all the time, but cloak your way out of a battle, experienced players will try and find kills on a teammates "X," meaning someones going to come and check out the aftermath, cloaking will give you time to catch yourself and bring yourself back into the game, to rethink a new strategy. This is one reason why I enjoy crysis over run and gun CoD games.

PS. If you wish to cloak all the time, that fine just means its a one shot kill for me when I tracked you down. :)

Lol and he will put that Gauss round through your head. Anyways I saw a YouTube video about the crysis 2 weapons but what interested me was that He was Tanking with the feline and it worked. So I decided to try the feline with armor enhance and its not that bad. You win a lot of fights out right just bye having armor on before they fire and out firing them. The K-volt could counter this but the person who tried to do that did not flank which is a must when K-volting.
