Trouble Renaming Soul Gems/Soul Trap

Post » Sun Aug 23, 2009 6:34 pm

I am renaming Soul Gems and Soul Trap spells to be Magicka Gems/Traps. I have had no problem with renaming the gems and spells themselves, or the spell effect and the on screen messages you see when using them. Except in two places.

I have combed through the Gameplay -> Settings window and cannot find anything that changes the word "Soul" these places. Is there any other place I should be looking to change the name displayed on the screen?

The name and usage is both hard coded into the game. As far as I know, there is no localization setting for this.

I would ask DarnN and those that work on User Interfaces. Reason is that I have Dark UI and I dont have the recharge screen statement at all. The Soul gem quality one I have but looking at the XML's under menus in the data folder that might be the place to start your search.

Thank you! I found two files in the Data\Menus folder that fixed the second instance. The first one I am still having problems with though.

look at the following gamesettings (under Gameplay -> Settings)

sCurrentSoul - (For your first problem)

Also look at these, as these are the soul gem messages that are displayed and may need editing:

sCanNotEquipSoulGem

sLowSoul

sNoSoul
sNoSoulGem
sNoSoulInGem

sSoulCaptured
sSoulGemTooSmall

sSoulLevelNameCommon
sSoulLevelNameGrand
sSoulLevelNameGreater
sSoulLevelNameLesser
sSoulLevelNamePetty

Run through them an see if you need to edit them.

Thank you for finding that first one! I have already gotten all the others. Thanks for taking the time to hunt for that!
