some asks

i have some asks about Morrowind:

1- i have a Sorcerer: since i haven't any Restoration or Alchemy, great skills for survive from attacks and recover HP's i have thought to start Alchemy or Restoration, but these skills are in Various pool. Now, because the Sorcerer is a mage, and have Intelligence as primary attribute, it's easy learn these skills?

2- The Enchant skill may be used mainly for use better existing magical objects or its necessary to enchant some item? Because i'm lazy I dislike create magical objects,but i have seen that with high Enchant my rings/amulets/etcetera work better, have more charges and seem to consume less power for each use and i prefer buy or gain a magical object than consume time and efforts to create a new one...

3-Since i'm a slower player, and i like explore and learn about Morrowind, i take all my time to do things in Morrowind, letting that weeks and months come.
Now I want know:
a) if when a year finish the journal register the passing of a year (e.g. i will make a quest in year 0,with a writing like this "3th day, year 0: i have agreed to retrieve the Lost Hat of the Wizard of Oz") and another in year 1 and my journal write "19th day, year 1: i have talked with XY for go in the temple of Mikateladogratis to recover the Sacred Stiletto Boots and the Whip of Azura")

b ) if i have only a year to go until the end of the Main Quest or if i can have all the time i want (e.g. i come in Morrowind in the year 0, and start the Main Quest core in year 1, or 2, or the game provide me of an entire year then things start to happen in every way, also if i haven't started yet the Main Quest)

To answer your questions:

1. If I understand what you're saying, Attributes don't make your skills go up faster, your skills make your attributes go up faster. Alchemy is a necessity for mages, restoration isn't always needed depending on what kind of mage you're playing.

2. Yes, having a good enchant skill is totally necessary for creating magical items. Be wary though, if you don't succeed making a magic item, your soul gem breaks.

3. Morrowind doesn't keep track of years. You could play for 4 game years and still do the main quest. Journal entries do not keep track of time either, you could start a quest and finish it a year later.

I prefer gain or buy a Ring of Life and use istantly instead to buy a ring, take a soulgem and enchant the item with Restore Health.

You can use soul gems to recharge enchanted items, which will increase your level in enchanting. But you can't add more effects to an all ready enchanted object if that is what you are asking. Also the higher your enchanting skill, the more uses you get out of enchanted items. Having enchant as a major or minor skill isn't necessary to use an enchanted item.

There are some enchantments that are best made by yourself and some existing items that have good enchantments on them.

Try an enchanter for making enchanted items, they do not fail. You can fail if you enchant yourself. Enchanters can be found at a mages guild. Raise their disposition so they like you, it will cut cost.

A handy enchantment is a pair of exquisite pants with +3 restore fatigue, constant effect and +1 restore health, constant effect. You need a grand soul for this.
Another handy enchantment to make yourself is an absorb health, cast on strike, on a weapon. It takes health from your target and gives it to you. Do not use on things with reflect spell such as dremora.

My eyesight isnt that good, so I also like an item of clothing with night eye, constant effect on it.

Try playing around with enchanting sometime. Its fun :) Make a save before you enchant. Test the item out, dont like it?

Just to make sure all the bases are covered, I'll add that, even if you're not doing a lot of enchanting on your own, the enchant skill can still be useful, in that the charge for enchanted items lasts longer for characters with a higher enchant skill. Also, if you don't have alchemy or restoration as major or minor skills, it might be more worthwhile to rely primarily on items enchanted with restoration spells to restore your health/fatigue/etc. That way you don't have to worry about raising miscellaneous skills, and can capitalize on your higher enchant skill.

while there are no time limits (for MOST things, i can think of one escort quest that must be completed in two days) morrowind indeed keeps track of the years. journal entries do record the date they were made as well. you can impose time limits on yourself if you wish, as part of your RP. not sure if any mods add time limits or anything.
