God level Fix mod?

Post » Fri Jul 08, 2011 3:47 am

So I am now playing what may or may not be my last character and my last 300 hour run of Oblivion. Whether that is true or not will depend on how Skyrim plays and how much I can mod it.

This gave me an mod idea that I think will not be popular but ...well...who knows. I will make this for myself, but I was wondering if others would be interested in it as well.

So you know how your PC get to be God like at about level 20 to 30?

Part of the reason for this is your PC has a lifetime of experience, skills and accumulation of great equipment, but not a lifetime of, you know...LIFE!

I am thinking of an old age mod, where at a selected level physical attributes will start to reverse (level backwards.)

OBSE probably has a way to slide that age appearance for the PC as well.

I think this will be a interesting and logical way to maintain the challenge of playing the PC at high levels. I will still have all these maxed skills but the old body will reduce the effectiveness. Should be interesting to see how well she handles the young wiper snapper bandits at her advanced age.

I checked all of the last 4 boxes in the poll. The reason for the level selection is because I play with basically every difficulty enhancement mod I can find on top of FCOM - I don't really start to feel "godlike" till about level 50. If I were talking about vanilla Oblivion, I would have picked 21-30, though that can go as high as the low thirties if you're not min-maxing.

I voted 31 to 40, but 25-35 is where quite a few of my 2006-2007 saves actually retired, and most of my newer saves really never get past 32-33.
It would be nice to bring some of my old saves out of retirement.

In tune with your idea, there is a mod called Skills degrade or some such. Essentially, over time, skills that you don't use are atrophied and go lower over time. Doesn't muck with age sliders etc. though. I notice that you are planning to reduce skills that one actively uses as well!

With OOO and FCOM, and now your Deadly Combat mod, that thought of God level is put to shame, as some young whipper-snapper might get lucky and kill you if you aren't paying attention!

41+ vote from me and that's just going on the now with the current game and to be honest at the moment I would welcome being a god, as anithinks just stated, with FCOM and your (first time use for me) combat mods in (melee combat) every battle is one where I'm fighting for my life, currently level 7 - 8 and I was killed by a level 1 refugee in Bruma...after that I was not a happy bunny.

But yeah having skills decrease over time due to body wear and tear is something I snatch and grab :bolt:

Unfortunately that one is bugged for the moment. Sometimes skills will bug out after decaying and cause them to go up every time you perform an action related to them.

Bring it on, Spooky.

I'm an FCOM player who also needs to add other mods to increase the challenge. I'm currently at level 26 with this play through, and feeling way too powerful. :(

Most people don't find the answer to the god at level 20 problem by depowering their character.

Most find it by adding content that is challenging beyond level 20. I only played a short time without an overhaul so I never had a god character and still don't. My level 27 Nord Paladin, who is a combat+magic using tank, is constantly challenged in the FCOM game he is in.

The problem of god characters is a lack of content that is challenging beyond level 20. That vanilla game is boring to me - if that was all I had to fight against vanilla content and get vanilla content I would have modded the game for a short time then moved on like most do. It is the overhauls and similar mods combined with your combat mods that keep me interested.

Tejon has other answers too. Not just skill decay but progress as well. Slow your skill progressions and leveling down and a level 30 that has been 5x slowed down will not be as uber as a vanilla 30 (though they may have more gear). But all that is icing. It is the overhauls that provide new enemies and gear that make wanting to go though that quest again fun.

my 2 cents.

Somewhere along the line here my OP got side tracked. I am not talking about directly changing skills or directly affecting the rate of leveling in any way.

My idea is to revers progress physical attributes such as strength and agility. You will still have your 100 block and 95 marksman and 99 casting skills to throw fire balls.
But from age (body wear and tear) you will get weaker and slower and less agile each time you level up after reaching an average of say 90 in your skills or reaching a particular level.

I do think anyone has done this mod yet, if they have please direct me to it because I would much rather play that mod than make it.

Sow how does one show/implement being weaker and less agile without effecting skills or attributes?

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36313 is the closest I know of.

Since skills are related to level and since your poll was regarding the god level problem - I answered it that way.

I will support this if you include intelligence degradation with age, but an increasing bonus to willpower.

"modav speed -90"
"modav agility -90"
"modav strength -90"

in no way reduces your block skill from 95 or your casting skill or any skill.
Skills will stay at 100 (or what ever).

Anyway it is a moot point as there is no way I can find to script the age slider so I would not want to do this mod if I cannot change the apperance.

I will ask the moderators lock this thread.
