Insane man in Reilly's Rangers quest

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 6:10 am

There was an insane man in the minefield with a mininuke in it that talked about a worm... Does anyone have the whole thing?

Not sure exactly what it means, gonna try to figure it out.

I'm open for spoilers though. ;-)

That doesn't actually have to do with the quest, it's a random encounter in the game. :)

Edit: I may be thinking of someone else though.. Try checking the wiki.

You're probably not, it's the Sewerd Square preacher, he's nothing special. You need to snipe him and then you can pop in and pick up the five mini nukes dotted around. Or you could talk to the wastelander and see what he could do, but you won't get the nukes. Say n'more.

He talks about Oasis. Simply is crazy. Don't go too near him because then he'll trigger the bombs. Killing you. :(

"Trees! So many trees! To the north! But be careful... the trees... are deadly, and the trees too will be consumed in the belly of the great fat worm!"

My theory is he saw Oasis and went crazy (not going to spoil why)

He's my favorite, one of his quotes is my current signature. If I'm an evil character I send the wastelander into the ally, otherwise I sneak past it.

I don't think so, the thing he seems terrified of most is putting the sun in a jar and breaking it. It's probably just the whole idea of living in a screwed world that sent him mad. I'm surprised there aren't more like him.

There is an option to blow his head off, sniper style.
No Karma loss either.

Threat in the alley vanishes when he is dead.

"In fourteen-hundred and ninety-two, your mother and my mother were hanging up clothes around the mulberry bush."

That's the Preacher (and his "friend"). He is not related to Reilly's Rangers in any way, except that he likes to hang out near their base.

That's the way I understood it. The OP says "in the minefield", not "in Minefield"

Yes, he's an easy snipe. If you're standing by the trapped wastelander who crouches in fear at the entrance to the alleyway... take about 3-5 steps back and 3-5 steps to the left. As you move left, you'll end up on the front walk of the house at the left side. Look down the alley again between the house and the tree and you should see the preacher.
