Can Oblivion run on my new HP laptop

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 2:29 am

My Laptop spec is as follows;

HP-G62-107SA
Intel Core i3 330M 2.13GHz CPU
Windows 7
Intel GMA HD onboard graphics with 762MB video Ram
2G Ram

I am wondering if anyone knows if my laptop will run The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Systemrequirementslab.com says my laptop won't play Oblivion because my Video card isn't up to the job, even though it says it passes all the features that the video card need to pass!
"Can anyone help me!!! :obliviongate:

A real graphics card is required, and Intel doesn't produce any of those. Only an AMD or nVIDIA card is supported, sorry.

It will most likely run, the question is how well will it run? It's very possible it will run very slowly as the Intel GMA HD onboard graphics is very slow.

Still, Oblivion is 4+ years old so it's not like a state-of-the-art computer is needed to run the game, so who knows, maybe you get lucky :P (if you cut down on the graphical details a lot)

The game really doesnt like to be played on the Intel chipset. You may get it to run with Oldblivion, but it will look and play terribly. And it doesnt have 762MB dedicated memory, it probably has a max of 64 and then it will leech the rest from your physical RAM.

The newer Intel integrated onboard graphic chipsets should be able to run this game on low settings. Get the latest drivers for it.

If you have a Morrowind question, you should ask it in the appropriarte Morrowing forums.

Next time, then, write out what you mean to say, right?

If I was asking a question about if I could run morrowind then I would have include a dxdiag a 100s of other things.

Many people will say it has a much better story and scenery than Oblivion...eveyone is going to have an opinion between the two. The game predates Oblivion by 5 years, so graphics are very different. However, there are some crazy texture mods out there for Morrowind that makes the game look incredible, but you will need a video card with horsepower to run those.

In any case, Morrowind is an excellent game in its own right.
