Constance by Emma

Post » Tue Aug 25, 2009 11:43 pm

Constance by Emma is a superb companion mod .... I'm still being surprised by her now and then.

http://lovkullen.net/Emma/Constance.htm

Is it possible to change just Constance's head and hair, without changing anything else in the mod?
(Purely for personal use ... something different for Constance this time around)

I have tweaked a mod or two but I've never attempted anything like this.
Is it possible to use a different wood elf face/hair that is sitting in your meshes and textures folder for Constance, without totally "making" a new head from scratch?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

ciao,
Salamandar

I'll post Emma's instructions on how to change one of her other comapnion's Laura's head and hair and you should be able to follow the same process for Constance cell references and NPC id's will be different

----------------------------

6 - CHANGING HEAD/RACE/ETC

----------------------------

With this mod, I have added four different esps with four different looks for Laura. You can switch esp whenever you want to, but you will have to CLEAN YOUR SAVED GAME in order to make the changes show up. (See description in the INSTALLATION - UPGRADING section of this readme.

If you want Laura to use another head from any other headpack that is easy to fix. Just got to the construction set, check the boxes for this mod, for the headpack mod and of course for Morrowind and Tribunal. Make sure that Laura is the "active" mod.
Open up the mod in the constrution set. To the left, you will see a couple of tabs. One of them is called "npc". Click here. At the very top of the list, you should find 11AA_Laura (I generally use the prefix 11A or 11AA). Double-click on the line with her ID-name. That will bring up the NPC-infobox. Here, you can change her race, her looks and even her name (just DO NOT change her ID-name). To the very right, you will find a list of heads and hairs. Just pick your choice and hit the OK button. Her race is listed below her name, you can change her into anything you want. But, her voice will remain the same, as it is programmed in the dialog.
If you go to the Vivec-cell where she is (list of cells below the render window, there's a * at the Vivec cell where she is), you can see her change her appearance each time you click "OK" on her npc-info-box.
Once she looks as you want her to look, just save the mod.

You may be able to do it with Enchanted Editor without cleaning your save. Open up your save (make a backup first!), find the Constance NPC_ (in your save), and change the hair and head ID to anything you'd like.

Best option is actually to do this when you start a new game and do it before you start to play. I did this myself. I edited Constance and also an other companion i use (Kendra), then saved and then if everything is ready i start to play.
I changed the hair of Constance by using a hair from the Corean Hair mod by Westly and use the second face which is shipped with Constance (it is labeled as 1em_const_WElf_head18)
This is the result:

I think using EE in that way will still cause evil GMST's, because you need to save the mod before it works.
Edit it before you start to create your character is a saver way and it doesn't cause any gmst's :)

There's an even simpler way to do it: Just open up your Data Files folder and find where the head/hair meshes you're currently using for Constance are located. Then rename your preferred meshes with the same names, and copy and paste the new meshes over the old ones. That way you won't need to worry about cleaning saves or anything like that.

What you call simple :P Problem is that when you use a large pack such as Westly's master headpack or Corean Hair there are tons of meshes and textures you have to crawl through and you also don't know how they look like.
In the CS you can see a preview when you change the hair and/or face and you can decide then which one you want to use and then finally save the mod.

Well, you could always use a program like NifSkope to preview the meshes as well - but I was assuming the OP knew which ones they wanted to start with.

Definitely liking Laura's look. Do you happen to have a link to that face (searching now, but just in case ;))?
Edit: Found a reference... Attributed to a Kirel. But not link yet. :(

I found the Avril face inside Changing Faces Add-On by Leeloo.
It was inside a folder: 1Hs\11\1HS_BG_Avril.nif

Kirel made an Avril face too ... but I think this one is different.

Changing appearances for my companions ... new clothes will come later, but I was working on the head/hair issues.

My thanks for everyone's help :)

1HS = UQForgotten (so its his version of Avril; which, of course, can also be found in his Master Headpack :) )
