Earlier Fallout games

Hello everyone, I have a question.

http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-Collection-Tactics-Post-Nuclear-PC/dp/B000IGE78M/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1231719474&sr=8-1

Would the above edition of the originals be a good edition to buy? I heard some talk of it being censored, is there any way to put all of the censored stuff back into the game via mods or something?

There are patches to remove thee censoring.

Its a good buy if you want the CDs. Make sure you patch them because the CDs dont hav ethe patched version.

I recommend Killap's unofficial patch for Fo2 (and once you're done, try his restoration project for a tease of what was cut).

might save you some cash too, tactics is so/so :)

As for content i recommend:

Fallout 1:

Also if you look around you can find a special launcher that lets you play F1-2 on a USB Flash Drive, all you need is the original install files

Am I the only one who didn't think that the Restoration Project was that good? I'd actually recommend the high resolution patches as well. They make some areas look strange since the view is larger than the actual map, but if you have an LCD monitor it can make the game less fuzzy looking.

LOL. This should be stickied for anyone who wants to play the original games. :P

It was interesting to see everything the devs originally planned for the game. But I agree that it's not essential, and I'd actually prefer newcomers playing the vanilla version first to get a feel for what the original version was like. I think it makes you appreciate the changes more.

The High Resolution Patch was nice, but I ended up taking it out because I couldn't stand seeing the unused areas of land (like seeing the strings at a magic show). I know it includes a guide for changing the scroll limits, but unfortunately I just didn't have the patience. Anyone who tried this patch ever fix the scroll limits? I'd appreciate some help with that. :)

The latest versions fix the scroll limits in places like the towns (so you can't steal from a shop by opening that off screen metal box). There's still the unused places of land in places like the exterior of the temple in Fallout 2, though; it's a little hard to fix that since the resolution is higher than the actual map size.

It has bad sides, like the angry ex-Chosen One, but otherwise its great, with new maps, quests and bugfixes.

Seconded as for Mash's Resolution patches! I find them completely necessary (and love them! woot!) when playing on my wide-screen.

Really? Did you mess around with the scroll limits or do you just not mind the empty land surrounding most maps? :) I do agree that they look very pretty though.

Hmmm, I put it in 1024 X 768 and haven't had that problem a whole lot. It maintains the original size of the game-world without screwing with the edges (I have seen that and know what you're talking about) too much. My screen is a 24" so it works out pretty well.

Thanks a lot. I'll try that out. :)

Kaga's dialogue was actually all in the original game's files, he just wasn't implemented.
