Terraforming in Skyrim!

Post » Wed Oct 05, 2011 10:04 pm

well i know that houses wont break and stuff like that, but if you notice that when dragons crash the leave a big scar on the land all the plants there are gone it like a crater.

now my question is will it rermain like that? or the scar will heal? and new plants will grow back.

another thing is the fire spells flametrower, when you hit grass and plants they catch fire what happens to them?

any form of terraforming you saw or heared in skyrim will be welcomed here.

I thought that pete or todd said that it is possible for a dragon to hit a building and damage it but it was extremely rare or something like that.

Probably once you exit that area into an interior or something the ground will go back to normal. And things things supposedly do catch fire for a few moments but won't burn away or anything like that.

Yup they said this. The translation as far as I'm concerned is there will be moments in the main quest where dragons are involved and it's scripted that the dragon crashes into a certain structure. When out in the game world it's not going to happen with the 'unscripted' dragons.

To the OP: When the dragons crash down it's just clearing a path of the grass. Pete or Todd discussed this somewhere. What will be interesting to see on 11/11/11 is whether that bare spot becomes permanent or semi-permanent so that when you leave the area and come back within grass-rendering/draw distance it's still bare, or whether it will magically sprout more vegetation as soon as you leave. I'd bet on it reappearing immediately, or at least when you change cells.

I would imagine this only happens in scripted events, not random dragon encounters.

Yeah, they don't have the ability to actively destroy the gameworld. Since they are unscripted, there would be no way from stopping them destroying the towns and then where would you steal- er, aquire goods and services?

It'd be sort of funny if the buildings set alight would stay on fire for the rest of the game, but never get any more damaged from the flames because buildings can't be destroyed or whatever. :lmao:
