Ive tried posting this in the bug forums, no luck. I play on ps3 by the way

Ive been trying my hardest to join the companions, I found their HQ and talked to the leader, he told me to train with the guy (I forgot his name and I rage quit turning off my ps3 so I cant check,) so I go out into the courtyard to train with him, to prove my worth or whatever. I play mainly magic so since its a duel I obviously use my magic and start blasting him, after a minute he says for me not to use magic so I switch to a sword and start whacking him. I whack him till he has no hp, he kneels down for a few seconds then stands back up saying NOTHING. so i hit him again and we fight again and we keep fighting and when his hp runs out, he again kneels down and stands back up. If I try to talk to him I get no new options its the same "What is the companions guild" and whatnot.

I was level 6 when I tried to join now im level 9, ALL FROM FIGHITNG HIM while a lot of people would love the idea of free exp and free levels I do NOT I want to JOIN the guild and do the questline and eventually become a werewolf. Ive gained so much one handed weapon experience off this guy its boosted me 3 levels and I have no idea what to do! Am I really being locked out of this part of the game? I mean honestly, I payed 60 dollars for the game I would REALLY like to have my moneys worth I dont like the idea that everyone else can join the guild but I cant

Or maybe im.. "beating" him wrong. Is there a certain way were supposed to duel? Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions

I encountered a bug where everyone was "busy", and not able to talk to, so I couldn't join at all. Had to start the game again. You may have to just start the game again if there isnt a previous save.

Wow that would svck ive put so many hours into this. Im not super far on the main story but I have done a lot of exploring and side quests and I have a huge amount of gold ive earned from wood cutting which takes a really really long time.. sigh. I may have to..
