reduced magicka regeneration in combat

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 7:03 pm

Has really got to be changed. There is almost no reason i would wear those idiotic robes. In combat, magicka regeneration is reduced to 33% of normal, plus i get absolutely zero armor from those robes. What is the ruddy point of the robes if they dont allow me to regen fast in combat? Getting lots of magicka out of combat, when i dont need it, and getting less magicka in combat when i really need it?

The only point im wearing those robes is because they make me feel more of a mage :celebration: Is there any way to obtain the mage robes which are not enchanted? so that i can use fortify skill enchantments on them.

i seem to believe that they did that as a way to force players to prepare for fights as if they expect every single player to be proficient at alteration and restoration so that they will cast protection spells before going into battle

I cant really see this being in any way a smart thing to do, so maybe ill just go with incompetence, since thats far more likely

When I found out, I simply enrolled another mage character. This time, focusing on Bound Swords and Light Armour around my robe initally to get me started before ditching those pointless robes all together for a full set of Elven gear. There is no negative consequence by casting Magicka in armour.

Your masochistic post streaks are really reeking of smelly elitism and unhelpful comments. Tone it down somewhat rather than proclaim "Master is an absolute betch and it separates us from the milk-drinkers' mentality.

I think it perfect the way it is now. If you don't like it you can just mod it to what you want.

I prefer robes FOR NOW on master diff. Cas im not high level YET,if i switch to light armor it will be too easy. I dying alot with robes and its fun,i agree that reduced mana regen svcks for mage cas 1handed warriors are amazingly overpowred compare to mages.

I also prefer robes for looking and roleplay cas i use both 3d and 1st person views.

Bright side = most mobs even those who can sprint like bandit chiefs - cant reach me in melee.

Wear heavy armor enchanted with -magicka cost; then wonder why you'd ever have worn robes before.

Magicka regen is for abusing game mechanics to power level skills.
Cost reduction is used for continually casting in combat.

Cost reduction tends to require the use of enchanting though.

I would prefer it being a -75% when in combat instead of 33% of total regen. Currently you need +200% to refill your manapool in 30 seconds?

I thought it seemed like regen was slower in combat, but I never knew for sure. That svcks. Still, I've never had any problems using magic. With Morokei, the Amulet of Akatosh, and expert robes of destruction my magicka definitely regens fast enough to use effectively in battle. Maybe my tactics will change when I get to a higher level or start smithing more, though.

Yeah, it's idiotic how they cut down Mana regen to such a low % in-combat when you really need it.. Why the hell would you use Robes? Just use Heavy Armor with - Magicka reduction and you're set. That's what I did and I'm enjoying the game a bit more now. Bethesda really does svck at balance :brokencomputer:

So it seems like i'll HAVE to enchant armor then. Meh. I've always been trying to play with robes, it seems more mage-like, so as to say.

Is there any way to obtain the mage robes which are not enchanted? :celebration: so that i can use fortify skill enchantments on them.
