Markarth Home(spoilers inside but hidden)

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 3:37 am

I just wanted to pop in here really quick to say a few words about the Skyrim housing options.

The first home I bought was of course in Whiterun; that silly little shack called Breezehome. After a while it definitely started to FEEL like home, but the size left much to be desired. So... I went on a mission to find the best bang for your buck home, and I believe I've already found it!

Spoiler
The house in Markarth is absolutely gorgeous once you purchase all available upgrades! There are 4 display cases, 4 plaques for your awesome spoils of war, and TONS of safe containers. The view from the porch is unmatched, and the home itself is very spacious. There are 4 rooms total, with alchemy and enchanting as an option. Master bedroom, then guest room. There are also THREE huge bookshelves, if you're a weirdo like me and like to collect all the books! :P

I was running out of room in Breezehome, and really needed an upgrade. I feel Markarth's home has satisfied that need, much more so than the home in Solitude. 9,000 septims for Markarth, 25,000 septims for Solitude---and the house in Solitude
Spoiler
doesn't even have HALF the stuff Markarth's home has.

Spoiler
The home in Solitude is absolutely terrible in comparison. The size of the home is large, but the place is completely empty even after its been fully upgraded. Many of the "containers" are just crates that don't allow any sort of storage. Wtf Bethesda? :/ Also, the view from the home is nothing in comparison to Markarth.

Anyway, I hope this helps anyone looking to blow a huge wad of cash on a home. You really don't want to be stuck with a crappy place to store your loot, and man it svcks to blow 25k plus upgrades on a place just to be disappointed... *looks at Solitude* :shakehead:

Dang! And I just got arrived in Riften completely the other side of the Map - oh well, best get me backpack packed, and my best travelling cloak on....
Though there are some dubious locals hanging around, so not sure how safe property is round there.

You'll have an interesting time in Markarth, for sure. ;)

That's the base cost of the house, actually. 9k for Markarth, 25k for Solitude with no upgrades included. WITH upgrades, Markarth will run you 14k and Solitude will run you over 30k. The differences are massive when you look at both homes fully furnished.

Yeah, Breezehome served me well into my 30's as far as levels go. It's a great little place, but I also like having more plaques and vanity stuff floating about---Breezehome didn't satisfy that for me, heh. :)

Markarth's the best. Windhelm is a close second but it's far to spacious. Lots of wasted space in that house. The house in Riften is also pretty nice, but it's pretty cramped.
