I'm the friggin Dragonborn.

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 5:25 am

I really wish the NPCs weren't all a bunch of homicidal maniacs. Really, a stable worker is going to go up and start PUNCHING a dragon in the face. Hmm. What's going to be the end result of that one. I hate when dragons attack near cities, it almost always results in the death of an NPC or two. I wish they would RUN INSIDE and let me do my thing. The main thing I'm worried about in every fight is whether or not any NPCs get killed. There's few enough of them as it is!

Yeah, the exact same thing happened to me. I was outside some small mining town and I was gonna turn in a quest for clearing spiders out of the mine. But when I get out, a dragon swoops down and the NPC I'm supposed to turn it into starts trying to fight it. He died very very fast.

Open console, click on dead NPC with mouse pointer, type resurrect and hit enter. That what I always do.
However, if you have console version of Skyrim, am feel sorry for you.

Yea, this is how I think it should go down:

Dragon appears, guards yell for civilians to find cover in their homes, they obey. Only the guards and any able bodied NPCs remain to assist the Dragonborn.

Every time I kill a dragon near a populated area I do an extensive body search. If I find one that isn't "X guard" I reload. I'm super paranoid about losing quests and, if they didn't provide any quests, still feel bad about their death.

When a blood dragon attacked inside of Rifton I thought "this is going to svck."

Agreed, it makes no sense they would attack the dragons in such a way. Town guards? Sure, but regular npc's should be fleeing for their homes/cover and let people actually wearing armor and carrying weapons do the fighting.

Y'know, the majority of PC gamers here would give even the Thalmor an inferiority complex, they really would...

I agree, NPCs who are not "combat ready" should run for it.

I was escorting a guy somewhere, he was just wearing priest robes and had no weapon - of course a dragon picked that moment to land in front of us, and this unarmed unarmored guy runs towards the dragon and starts punching it in the face (and no as it turned out he was not some monk with awesome unarmed combat skills, or a boxing champ), he lasted approximately half a second before becoming a soft squidgy treat for the aforementioned dragon.

Yeah I hate it too, when dragons attacks towns. Today, blood dragon attacked Riverwood, all guards died and Alvor too. :sadvaultboy: Sad day for me.
Town people should go inside or flee, not to fight. ><

To be fair (and stretching an "explanation"), most towns dont believe in the dragonborn until they saw him killing a dragon. They even admit that to the player. Although, its true, people should run from a dragon, but, a lot of the npcs are former guards/adventurers so it is logical that they try to defend the town. What isnt very logical is the horses attacking the dragons, animals should run by nature.

If a dragon ever killed Alvor, I'd probably cry.. He opened his house to me and taught me how to smith... He's like family...

The interesting thing is that NPCs actually do that in my game... Riften got attacked by a dragon two times already and both times the vendors were all crouching and covering their heads or running away.. only the NPCs with weapons kept fighting..

Considering the number of dragons my horse has killed (I bought it in Solitude), I don't see why they'd be afraid of the dragons. I think they have some donkey in themselves somewhere.

Not only do peasants charge the dragon with fists and daggers, during the fight I will usually end up killing one or at least hitting one. then when the fight is over, the guards jump from the dragon and start attacking me.

What's even more awesome is how many randoms (often in very sad-looking armor and rags) decided they're so bored with life it's a good idea to call a dragon-born names and challenge him in public.
