I'm looking to enchant a weapon with soul trap so I don't have to use the spell to make soul gems being that enchanting is the only magic I'm focusing on.

my question is if the first hit on a target is also the killing blow will I get a soul? or can the enchant not collect a soul on the same hit its applied from? if I can then I'll just set the enchant down to 1 sec so that I can get the most applications.

If the target is already soul trapped, and you hit it with the weapon again, will it recast the spell and burn another charge?

no, sorry what I'm asking is lets say my bow is set to trap a soul if the target dies within 1 sec. if the first hit kills it will I get a soul then or does it have to be the next hit? can one shot apply soul trap and collect the soul at the same time?

Yes. Application is immediate and the soul is trapped.

Yes soul trap works first hit, yes it burns a charge everytime. Best thing to do is perk up conjuration a litle bit and get bound weapons that souls trap and then use forged weapons for everything imo.

thanks for the quick response. it seemed too good to be true to just set the enchant on my bow to 1sec but get 100+ procs so I wanted to make sure it'd work the way I want.
