Level 43 and counting, My impression so far.

Heres my impression/feedback/opinion on the game so far, Ive put in well over 100 hours by now, and I'm @ level 43. SPOILERS BELOW, nothing major, but little things that you might not yet know might come up, fair warning!

Pros:
Perks- This makes leveling up have MEANING, I love how it rewards you for working on your skills.

Followers- I dont mind the non leveling up becuz they cant die by anyone but ur own hands. I love the fact they act as another storage unit, more often then not right after I sell off my gear and leave a town or city, a Dragon Comes along with scales and bones ready to fill up my carrying capacity, and having a follower makes it so much more enjoyable, and lets me stay out in the wilderness twice as long.

Dragons- I love the storyline of the Dragon Born, I love fighting and slaying Dragons, Yes it gets a bit repetitive, but idk, killing dragons can't be THAT repetitive, can it?

Killing Cut Scenes- The Slow Mo kill scene's. Simply put, these RULE, I love a decapitation scene right before I'm about to die, just barely saving my life :)

Quest's- Ive done over 200 misc quests, and about 50 main quests (including guilds, civil war, and dragonborn story line). Ive got so much to do I get tired just looking @ my journal lol.

Smithing- We could always ask for more customization, but you guys did a great job with this, and I love it. My only wish is for Dragon Weapons in future DLC!!!!

Map- The most breath taking map concept ever in a game, love looking at it. I especially like how your ability to navigate it changes from day to night.

Graphics- 10000 times better than Oblivion, My first impression when I walked into an Inn and looked @ the inn keeper and the background was DAMN, looks like a painting, detailed, vibrant, and it popped. as opposed to Oblivion where most of the graphics were dark, gloomy, and 2Dish.

Marriage- I like how it's not mandatory, and I also like how following through with this path gets you gold while your spouse runs a store, this idea was Genius!!

Horses- I didnt realize horses could climb terrain I myself couldn't, once I found this out I started using them all the time. they might not be fast, but they get me where I need to go when Walking doesn't seem fun. And without pointless stats like athletics, no need to skip/jump from town to town :D

CONS:

Glitchy Quests- Not a huge concern considering it's still new, and patches will come out, but the for me the Thieves Guild Quest has glitched on my @ a critical point in the story line, and bummed me out big time, one or two other quest's have glitched on me but nothing major, but I have to mention it becuz thieves guild is a huge deal to alot of ppl who play this game.

Placing Items in Homes- Ive noticed placing items on tables, shelves, desks, and even in book cases is futile. Sometimes I'll load my game up and all my book shelves and walls in the house will not be there, and everything on them will be all over the place. A reboot usually fixes the problem and it's only happened a couple times, but on the other hand, I filled up the alchemy station in Solitude, spending about 20 minutes or so placing ingredients in an orderly fashion. I did just pay 37k to buy and furnish it after all. I come back to the house a cpl days later and 100 ingredients are ALL OVER THE PLACE lol. Another instance, trying to place a simple statue in my room, each time Id return it'd be tipped over, in a different spot in the room, didnt make any sense to me. This isn't a big deal, but I mean it should be a relatively easy fix, We spend hundreds of hours exploring and questing to show off our trophies in our houses, we shouldn't be stuck to just using Weapon racks and display cases, we should be able to fill shelves, and set tables how we like.

Houses are somewhat lack luster- I only have 2 homes right now, Solitude, and Whiterun. Whiteruns wasn't too bad for a starter home I was content with a chest and a bed and my own alchemy station. Solitude however, I spent 37K on, and expected a little more than I actually got. The size is okay, but my large weapon rack only holds 3/5 weapons, each end slot doesn't work. Theres a random room in the basment with virtually no use or storage aside from 3 barrels. And 0 display cases in a 3 story home seems a bit weird to me. Ive been trying to gain access to other homes in Skyrim but it's a bit more difficult than it was in Oblivion, but Im sure Solitude's is the best one so Im not as excited as I thought I'd be about obtaining more homes. Im praying they do something Epic in the first DLC release, a huge mansion :)

What's your opinion on the blurry map with clouds all over it and the interface that shuts down when you click wrong with the cursor?

Nice to see you outside of the fallout forums Gabe :celebration: !

Im on the 360, so the interface hasnt gotten to me, but I heard it was prity bad for pc, and I have to say, while this map is sleak, and cool looking, I prefere the simple, but effective maps in oblivion, or on my pip-boy, its easier.

To the op, Markarth is a realy cool home, you should check it out, much better than solitude in my opinion, mainly because there's not a blinding light shooting in through the windows 24/7.

1. Well I have other interests too. ;)
Besides, Fallout forums are a drag.

2. Oh you have no idea how bad it is, I've stopped using the mouse entirely for navigating throught he interfaces, I constantly click wrong and have to re-enter inventory or shops.

Oh and how about the writing?
I think they've really improved since Oblivion and Fallout 3.

100%. Fallout 3's story was an abomination, I dont care how fun it was to explore.

Another thing I like alot is the new talking system. No more zooming into faces any more. The fact that its real time is cool too,(except for a few times when some one talks to me in combat while Im get'n hit <_< )

I dont know, other than a few bugs and balencing issues, this game is outstanding. Bug wise, it shiped better than fonv at least( though thats not saying much :whistling: ).

Any word on the creation kit? At least when that comes out pc users can fix anything bethesda decides to ignore. :vaultboy:
