so.. should i buy this game?

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 9:39 am

i'm in a great dilemma right now. i want to play the game so badly but i dont have a 360 and i only got a crappy laptop. the best i can go is my ps3. the comments after the patch are still vary even though most of you said the lag problem is better now. so my mind is about 70% buy and 30% not buy the game at the moment.

i'm not a perfectionist and i can easily overlook minor silly bug, i dont really care too much about graphic, and i dont give a damn about shadows and stuff. i just want a playable game.

so, i need a comment from someone who basically like me, not from a perfectionist/whiners because perfectionist/whiners wont stop whining even just for a super small bug/texture failure which normal ppl will usually overlook it.

should i buy the game then?

Well, I have a game that has 77 hrs on it. It is worth the money, but there are some issues and you seem like you are willing to overlook them by the way your post is. So id say yea get it.

Depends how crappy your laptop is. I'm running on 1920x1080 rez, 18x anisotropic filtering, 4x anti-aliasing, textures high, radial blur filter ultra, decal ultra, shadows medium and all view distances on full. My PC is not a high end machine, it's a X2 250 processor with 4GB DDR2 ram and a HD4850 graphics card, the ol girl is an average puter from 3 years ago.

If your laptop is similar in specs then get it for PC :)

If you can't run it on PC then the PS3 version is fine. Only problem I have with the PS3 version is the screen kinda 'chugs' when I move the camera slowly in some areas but not all. If you swing the camera fast it's fine.

Not until the problems are fixed, no...unless you want to risk the frustration.

Anyone who cares about this stuff might say no... I would say no based on this stuff myself. But the problems usually start when your save file gets around (8mb instead of 6mb now with the fix maybe :P) and you have played for a considerable amount of time. By that time you could always hope that they have fixed the major issues. Or you could just avoid doing the stormcloakes (since the end missions there are glitched for a whole lot), avoid any major cities, such as Solitude, Riften or Windhelm... and avoid major cities that have no walls to seperate them from the world map, such as Dawnstar, Morthal and Falkreath since they suffer the most from Framerate drop/tearing... and basically only venture into caves.... That should pretty much keep your experience intact for the time it would take you to finish the game and for Bethesda to have you forget about it while not fixing the major problems in the game and start working on their next dlc which will only load from the hard drive and cause further framerate drop.. Oh happy day.

If you have to ask that question then you already know the answer. Unless you are in denial...

You can wish for it all you want, doesn't change the fact that the game is a broken mess and will give you many a headache.

Do not buy it.

Yes, but not for the PS3, (even with patch) it becomes unplayable after time. Unless you are fine with quitting the game often.

You're asking whiners to not come on this thread. Like, seriously? This forum is for everyone. Of course our opinions will be mixed. I say don't for now. Rent it first. See if you can deal with the lags. If you can't, you'll have your answer.

Haha, yea why would you tell the negative opinions to stay out? That's like saying "Tell me to buy this game."

I would buy it, but just know it will get frustrating as hell with the framrate that isn't fixed... for me at least =\

well, maybe im in denial and need some encouragement to buy this game.

but for the whiners, they will always try to find even the slightest mistake they can find in the game. in other words, whiners will always make a game looks bad.

im a pretty casual gamer and i dont really care to much about specific stuffs. if other casual gamers like me think that the game isnt worth buying as well, that means that the game really beyond salvation. then i wont buy it. that's why i ask the whiners to stay away because they will just give negative feedback. i need someone more neutral and casual like me.

but thats just me and my opinion. didnt mean to offend anyone.

I have just purchased a PS3 for the family that will be opened up for x-mas. I never experienced X-box or PS3 level graphics having only the Wii. I love DnD and Ultima growing up and when I saw the videos of this game, it has taken all my will not to go out and buy it. I'm praying that the lag issues and bugs will be worked out and I have to believe that the majority will be over time. I will personally wait and pick up Oblivion, since I never had that experience, and then venture into the world Skyrim by which time, the verdict will be out clearly on the lag issues and may bugs addressed.

The game is great. Amazing, even. It's just that for some, it's still near unplayable. The reason I suggest you keep from purchasing the game, is the chance that it will eventually dissapoint you due to it's issues. You should rent it! Or borrow it from a friend :) anything but shell out $60 for a game that might die late enough that it's too late to get your money back.

Erm.... what do you want the community to do then? Honest answer is "no" but reading over the topic titles in this forum would've told you that already.

he doens't want no, he want's to be justified in his biased decision to purchase the game, which if you want honesty.. here it is, DON'T

the XBOX and a PC have alot more in common in terms of GPU/CPU seperation and processing architecture, the PS# uses a weaker GPU but has a CELL processor that is capable of taking up GPU tasks and literally has 6 USABLE SPE cores at 3.2GHZ each, whcih if they utilized this feature of the hardware architecture, it could surpass framerate levels on the Xbox, and quest tracking bugs could be eliminated by having a SPE dedicated to quest tracking, another SPE or 2 for graphics physics, object placement ( kinda like SLI from NVIDIA) another SPE for dragon random spawn/AI which takes care really most of the games fualts...and a GPU using preprocessed software threads will perform ALOT better then havign to do it all on it's own. the PS3 is a very different animal, due to that they should have designed an initial engine and then optimized it for the hardware architecture of the two console systems, catering to their design then uploaded/integrated the game data to it since it would be the same engine, just optimized.

No. Buy either a 360 or a good gaming PC, then buy Skyrim - for whichever you desire out of the two.

PS3... just no.

Skyrim is a great game just don't get it on the PS3. Once you put more than 30 hours into it you get into the frequent lag. Just not worth it.
