Frightened of the dentist.

Well as title says, i'm scared of the dentist, have been all my life and i must have been maybe there maybe only 3 times in 30 years, i went there last week and had a badly chipped front tooth somehow magically made whole again, and i had a filling done in a molar.

Only problem is it was an awful experience, the numbness and the drilling that reverberated round my head i could probably deal with, but the dentist had an argument with his assistant as he was working on my mouth, he kept tutting and arguing about some piece of equipment he needed that someone else had borrowed, that he didn't know why he bothered working there etc, and the general atmosphere was bad.

I had x-rays done that showed i am still in need of two more fillings and a root canol, i was supposed to have them done today but i didnt go, i'm too scared to go back, the whole experience was unprofessional and basically worried me.

My problem is though that i can't really go to another dentist, this one has my x-rays and there are no other dentists around that take NHS patients near me, at this place the most i'd have to spend is 200 quid, wheras at a private one i think all i could afford is extractions.

my question is, would you guys go back to a dentist that had an argument with his assistant in front of a patient? my only alternative is simply to forget about it and just wait for pain to appear one day and then go have an extraction somewhere else.

If these were your only options, would you go back to this surgery? all this has made me sad to be honest.
