Gold and Silver Armor...

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 1:30 pm

I'd like to be able to create Gold and Silver Jewell encrusted armor.

I think it would be the mutts nutts as I slay stuff in the light of the silvery moon!

A long ass smithing time ago, in Whiterun beneath the moon.
There lived a humble family, religious through and through.
But yay there was an Imperial, and he knew just what to do!

His name was young J.B. and he refused to step in-line.
A vision he did see of killing Dragons all the time.
He smote a blood red beasty and all the planets did align!

Oh the dragons balls were blazin' as he stepped out of a cave.
Then he sliced the Dragons cockles, with a long and shiney blade!
'Twas he who killed the dragon, he sliced him through and through.
And if you try to mess with him then he shall slice you too!

Just so you know...pure gold is actually a very soft metal. Gold armor would be total sh!t in reality.

Gold Armor - When all you want is a big heavy piece of bling that will likely get you killed in combat.

At least Glass would be a decent insulator against fire, and would be amazingly strong if nothing really hard (like a sword) hit it and shattered it.

Gold would melt, and would puncture almost like cardboard. My assumption would be that Silver and Gold armor would actually be "silver inlaid" or "gold inlaid", and that superior workmanship and fluting (ridges to stiffen it) would be the source of its strength, not the soft metal trim.

Fantasy volcanic glass...sure? I dunno. Somehow I don't think Steel Plate would be much help either.

I mean, if a crocodile could rip your hand off no problem IRL, what's a dragon going to do? :cryvaultboy:

stop bringing reality into it. besides, it would obviously be some type of Steel armor with Gold, Silver, and jewels added onto it. it could provide more protection for more weight, while also having more awesome.

Have you tried Dwarven armor? It's gold (sorta), big, bulky, decenly heavy...and I think with smithing you can easily reach the armor cap.

A solid gold armor is something quite acceptable just for role playing. Something to use just in special events...not exactly as battle gear IMO.

you talked about reality when there are people that could throw fire from their palm or resurrected a dead people. or some crazy tribe that could took their heart and change it to fruit-like-thing in their chest

It could be your "going out" armor. When you have to talk to the Jarl and want to look your best

Are any of you aware that there is already Silver weapons in the game?

So Silver armor isn't THAT much of a stretch is it?

In the Hobbit, the dragon Smaug has gold and silver and jewell encrusted scales and as a result is virtually invincible.

Hence my idea!

Yeah, pretty crazy stuff going on in this game. I guess solid gold armor could work?
Oh wait...I forgot that there IS gold in this game...but it's only used in jewelry. Logically, one can assume that gold on Nirn must be similar to gold on Earth, so therefore, smiths don't make plate armor with it.

Not saying this game is based on reality, but it doesn't diverge quite so much as something like Final Fantasy.

Trolling aside - some decorative armor just for the fun of it would be cool. Kind of like the Imperial Dragon Armor from Oblivion? Not that the Imperial Dragon Armor was bad, it was just waaaaay out-classed by my custom ebony armor enchanted with sigil stones.
