So....about the dresses. Yes. Dresses.

Hiya! 360 here.

While playing Skyrim I've noticed something a little odd with the dresses that are available. Two of them look really good with the graphics (a blue one and a green one), with sharp detail and such. But all the rest look bad, with a blurry, washed-out, lack-of-detail kind of thing going on. It's a shame, since the designs are good (particularly the belted tunic).

I've never played ES before, and was wondering if they've been ported over from an older game? Because that's almost what the level of graphics on them look like. It's just strange how a couple of outfits would look perfect with the rest of the graphics and resolutions, but then most of the others look so low-res and lack of detail...

It's not so much a complaint as a curiousity. Trolls will be ignored. :P

Check out nexus mods. There are several clothing mods that fix the specific issue you brought up and many others that really make Skyrim clothing come alive.

assuming you are playing on PC, if you are on a console, you have my sympathy.

Oh crap just noticed you are on 360, sorry.

No it's a problem with loading textures properly. Happens to most items in your inventory at random and changes all the time, but usually they look as they should when you actually wear them.

Usually.

I'm not 100% convinced the texture issues r/t HD installs are entirely gone.

It is certainly true that textures are not entirely consistent, regardless of platform.

I'm wondering if its mostly the dresses you'll see the most that have the lower res.

In general though, textures are not Skyrim's strong point, which is why "high res texture" mods are all the rage right now on mod sites. Most of them are crap, but the interest level still suggests people are not satisfied with the vanilla ones.

Ja, I noticed this, too. There are some really good designs that go to waste. What's bothered me more, though, is that 'male' clothes (pants, shirt) that you loot off people suddenly turn into 'female' clothes (dress) if you're playing a female character. <_<

Yeah, I can see that irritating some people.

I'm not sure what to think of it. I don't know if they did it because it was easier to program two different looks rather than make the same look work for both, or if it was ment for maximum versatility for male players (many women will wear pants, but very few men will wear a dress), or if they just didn't want to allow crossdressing.

To be honest, I'm fine with it as is, but I do wish they had male and female mannequins. None of the outfits on display look anything like when I where them.
