Do you want to see your Character in the Inventory Screen?

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 12:37 am

I miss seeing our character in the inventory screen. I don't feel so "attachted" to my character as I use to in other TES games. I loved seeing what I wear or how my weapons look when I am holding them.

I really wish Bethesda would implement this back in, in a Patch, but if not in a patch, then part of the DLC. If we can Zoom in our inventory stuff, why can't we do the same thing to our Character? With all the new clothes and armour that Bethesda has given us, I would like to see my character in the inventory screen and Zoom in and out like we did in Oblivion. (I am more of a Daggerfall/Morrowind player but like what they did with Oblivion seeing your character)

Also so I don't make a new thread, would you like the option to change your character before exiting the Tuturial Dungeon? Something like having a "Before exiting the Sewer Saves" like in Oblivon and Fallout 3?

The "before exiting the sewer save" was because we actually defined our future characters by our actions within the tutorial. You had to know what you wanted to become. In skyrim, you simply become what you do more naturally. There's no point where you could "quick start".

With 3rd Person, there is not a real need to see the Paper Doll, although some like that.

The only thing I want is to be able to re-roll the character after the Tutorial

I'd also like to see my character's face on the bottom of the screen. I'm probably the only one.

Yea, it was nice to see/scale/rotate your character like in Oblivion. Miss that.

Press F, rotate camera to see character, then open inventory. This works for me looking at clothing etc.

I don't play in 3rd person much. Seeing from him behind all the time, is not that fun for me, prefer 1st person. Also I tried the "rotating the camera" and it just doesn't do it. It's not the same espically when getting the camera angle to work properly.

Yeah, I kind of miss that.

(And even with them wanting the open space on the right to be for seeing specific items, there could have been a simple toggle to switch between the two views)

----
I answered "other" for the second one because, even though I miss the feature, I don't think they'd implement it in a patch OR a DLC. So....

...has anyone else gotten annoyed by how much more limited the "press F and rotate around" functionality is in Skyrim, compared to Oblivion and FO3? In combat mode, you can't really do it much at all. The angles and zoom you can do are more restricted.

Also, you can't seem to do it while moving anymore.... which I did a good bit in Oblivion, if only to see how new walk/etc animations looked like from the front. Now, it seems, when you start moving (even with weapon sheathed), the view snaps back to right behind you. :sadvaultboy:

This, totally this I can't stand the tutorial. It's better then the previous games but it's a wasted 25-40 minutes of time I could be spent playing the game.

I voted yes for wanting to see my character in the inventory screen, "Don't care" about whether or not they actually implement it and even though I can easily redo my character at any time since I'm on PC...I still voted yes for the option of tweaking one's character a second time since I think console users would appreciate that a lot.

Unfortunately, there's this thing called the interface which covers little more than half your character :)

I liked it better the way it was in Oblivion.

of course... the way it s now, i have to enter the menu choose my stuff, then exit, switch into 3rd person and wiggle the mouse around to see me, a 3d model inside the inv screen would be WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY more convenient

Yes. And compared to Morrowind too. I don't know why they would restrict the camera that way. I can't believe it's a game engine limitation.

The paper doll is as much a convenience as it is an aesthetic touch; it lets you get a quick look at what you have equipped while in the menu. Convenience, of course, being the last think on Bethesda's mind when they designed this stupid interface.
