Clicking on the Misc-Missions in the Quest menu , does it put a (v) icon on your map and or compass ribbon. I don't get a V marker on the map or compass ribbon.

You need to mark both the Misc tab and the misc mission for it to show.

To have the mission show up on your map, etc. you must click both on the Misc. line on the main journal menu as well as the specific mission on the miscellaneous page.
