i just killed a giant at steamcrag camp and seen his club on the ground with the take button displayed, yet when i try to take it nothing happens...it also displays weapon stats like damage, weight and value.

does anyone what thats about?

That's wierd. I know you can't pick it up but appartenly companions can.
