This is topical: the worst thing that affects Skyrim and really degrades it greatly is Steam.

EA's "Origin" appears to be far worse, and is required for SWtOR.

I dunno, I'm running the game without being required to boot up Origin, unlike Battlefield 3. Seems stand-alone to me as far as I'm concerned.
