Two-Questions in one: Godhead and the Old Gods.

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 3:50 pm

I keep randomly hearing something about a "Hypothetical Godhead within the Elder Scrolls universe." Who is this Godhead, and two, who are the "Old Gods," The Forsworn in Skyrim always refer too?

The Godhead is you. The Godhead is me. The Godhead is everyone and everything.

The Godhead is you. The Godhead is me. The Godhead is everyone and everything.

Well that was impossibly vague, lol. Is there really any Lore behind that? ANY other information? Perhaps a link to a more, integral explanation?

As for the second Question, who were the Forsworn's Old Gods?

That was vague?

I AM HE AS YOU ARE HE AS HE AS YOU ARE HE AS YOU ARE ME AND WE ARE ALL THE DREAMER.

That's the Godhead.

The old gods are just the gods the Forsworn used to worship. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1329680-the-forsworn-necromancers-dibella/page__st__30__p__20006933#entry20006933

The Godhead is the universe and all possible universes and everything therein. It's not a concept that has a convenient, simple explanation. In-game, it's only mentioned in passing with no real explanation. It's better to get an understanding of CHIM first, which will give you a better understanding of the Godhead. If you don't know about CHIM, then search the lore forum. There are tons of topics about it.

Velorien; Thanks. I am just trying to do a bit of research, to add some interesting twists on subjects that never been crossed before and that hold a particular instance with the creation of things; it's for a mod of mine.

The Godhead http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godhead_(Judaism) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godhead_(Christianity) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svayam_Bhagavan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paramatma for an omniscient overarching God figure. In TES, this is the dreamer whose dream is the universe. Every single thing we see, including the people we interact with, are just characters in his dream - hence Velorien's assertion.

The clearest explanation of the Godhead can be found in the latter half of the http://imperial-library.info/content/loveletter-fifth-era-true-purpose-tamriel.

It's better to get an understanding of CHIM first, which will give you a better understanding of the Godhead.
I'd argue for the reverse. CHIM isn't necesary for the Godhead, but the Godhead is absolutely vital to the concept of CHIM. Bringing the C word into this just confuses the issue.

From what I gathered, the Godhead, or [I think was also called] Amaranth, is an actual conscious entity. Separate from just everything but paradoxically, the same exact thing as everything? Therefore, he is Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent. Though while dreaming, like every living creature, he doesn't know that he is dreaming? Therefore is unable to directly influence anything going on in his dream? [or also better known as the Elder Scrolls Universe].

True, CHIM isn't necessary, but that's how I came to understand the Godhead. You're right though, might be a bad suggestion to start with.

The Godhead, yes. The Amaranth does know that he is dreaming, and wants to have all his children realize that they are dreaming, too.

Then all existence as we know it stops existing.

That one I didn't catch, that is actually kind of interesting.

Well, that would be unfortunate. I wonder, could the idea of that be as a story-line then? Or be implemented into one?

It might be unfortunate. Or it might mean the Godhead wakes up to a whole new, greater level of existence beyond our comprehension. It's metaphysical evolution.

I doubt we'll ever hear much about the Godhead in-game, let alone have a whole storyline based around it.

Depends. I am working on a personal mod for myself at the moment. However, It will probably be released when it is finished too. I may implement a story-line around this or at least some small involvement with this.

At least they are creepy. They want to cease HUM-mans. And they hunted M'eyap for years.

No! Don't tell them M'eyap been here. M'eyap is helping other good guys to stop them so they do not destroy our sweet Nirn.

The closest thing to the Godhead in Tamrielic religion is Satakal and the Alessian Order's God.

Id love a storyline in game based around some of the more complicated stuff we discuss on the lore forum, I sadly don't see it happening.
