The Slayer

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 6:20 pm

I am going to make a new character in preparation for what i think Dawnguard will be about. I would like some feedback (NOT about the dlc but about the build)

The Slayer
Race: ?
Skill Trees: 1H, Destruction, Restoration, Conjuration, Archery, Light Armor, Enchanting
Stone: Lord
Special Equipment: Dawnbreaker, Crossbow (if available)
Purpose: Hunts Vamps and Draugr, Serves Meridia

What race should i go with? I will most likely be exploring tombs and dungeons. The character will not be inherently bad, he wont steal or murder, but will defend his cause against undead and those who do not fit his definition of Just

You're probably not going to be able to play the DLC for about 4 months. 3 if you have an Xbox.

6 if you have a Ps3

You do realize that buffy had neither destruction, conjuration, or restoration magic and she didnt worship a daedra? The joke would have been funny had it been executed by somebody over the age of 7

Hard to plan out a character based on what one image shows us. But there are a couple things that could point to it being related to Meridia, the "Dawn" in Dawnguard being one example, and the glow in the eyes being the other(the glow looks very similar to that of the Dawnbreaker). But those are just my speculations. If it is related to Meridia we should probably be prepared to kill lots of undead, because that's what Meridia wants us to do.

Relax, nobody was judging you, we were joking. The build looks fine. Are you going to be focusing more on magic or combat?

Edit: Oh, one flaw I noticed. I wouldn't recommend using both archery and destruction, they both serve as ranged combat most of the time, so you don't really need both.

Situation combat: Fire for vamps, Archery for Draugr, Silver sword for close-combat
When i use close quarters the destruction goes in the other hand, while at range i use bows

There's no race that traditionally worships Meridia very much. So if you haven't thought of how your character got into that, do so. It might just be that he already had something against the undead and found out about Meridia during his studies somewhere. I'd rule out Dark Elves (who also hate undead as it happens) and Orcs. Khajiit don't seem to worry about necromancers at any rate. I'd have thought an undead-slaying Redguard would worship Arkay.
Imperial might work, not even taking their stats into account. Also, Wood Elves are keen on life and not holding back the dead. The're not know to worship any daedra either, but that doesn't mean they have anything against it per se.
Almost forgot about Bretons. That should be fine too.

http://www.imperial-library.info/content/preparation-corpse-volume-one-acquisition-corpseexplains how to get corpses in different provinces, discussing attitudes to necromancy and such and http://www.imperial-library.info/content/varieties-faith-empire says which gods appear in which pantheon but Meridia isn't mentioned at all, unless she was Leki.
