Why is there no ability to pick up and use the fishing rod ?

I've read people enquire about this...but I'm totally bemused why nobody at bethesda cannot see how this would add to the immersion and thus make their game more appealing.

It's like ...we've made this great world of adventure but because we never thought of implementing real 'fishing'...we better not add it in as this would only make our game more popular !

The fact they appear to ignore tweets and posts about it.....make them look stupid.
