Difference between ImperialStormcloak?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 8:06 am

Can anyone give me a brief description of both? Is there no longer an Empire/emperor? Yet the Imperial forces still stick around? Are Imperial the same as Storm-cloak, are they enemies etc. Who are the storm-cloak, and who are the Imperials?

Thanks!

The Empire's current Dynasty isn't known, its assumed to be the Mede's. Descendants of a warlord that took over the Imperial City and the Empire after the fall of the Septim Dynasty. Beyond that not a whole lot is known about the current state of it, except that several provinces have seceded and the Empire as such it no longer controls nearly any Elven territory, and some provinces seem to be ignoring Imperial orders.

The Stormcloaks are Skyrim based rebels that we don't know a whole lot yet on. Their leader is responsible for the death of the King of Skyrim for reasons we don't know yet. They are fighting against the Imperials in order to secede Skyrim from the Empire. However their motivations and other goals are not yet known.

Spoiler
The Septim dynasty is gone, there's a new Emperor(Titus Mede) who has taken over after the events in Oblivion. Long story short the Empire is around, but its not the Septim Empire (3rd Empire) and its a lot weaker now. Stormcloaks are Nordic rebels trying to secede from the Empire, and the Imperials are trying to eradicate them as a result.

Most likely.

I just haven't played yet, so I can't say 100% without the risk of having to eat my words. Lol

So who should I join ? :P, Stormcloak or Imperial. I actually wouldn't mind Imperial I loved them in Oblivion...

Thanks for all the answers btw. I saw it mentioned somewhere in a thread ('Imperial or Stormcloak who would you join' for example, but I don't think they meant you could literally)

Also, since my first thread was deleted, I'll mention it here (don't worry no spoilers) someone on youtube uploaded a full hour of Skyrim gameplay, why hasn't it been removed yet? I only saw the first couple minutes (I couldn't help it :P) but the person playing is very inexperienced and overall makes the game look worse. Bethesda has removed other videos especially since they were full of spoilers(un-related to this poster's videos) yet they didn't remove the gameplay itself. It's just very...contradicting.

There's no way to contact Bethesda about it? Normally I pay no attention to leaked gameplay/games especially when it comes to Bethesda's games since I ALWAYS buy what they have to offer and ignore the leaked stuff. In this case though, the gameplay is very poor and makes the game look bad. They've removed reviews from articles(also containing spoilers) yet they seriously did not remove the videos on youtube?

Its really up to you...the basic principles of Empire vs Rebels apply here, but at the same time we don't really know much of anything about their leadership and motivations in the game yet, so I would wait until you play to see who you like better.

Personally I'll be joining the Imperials the first time through at least, since my first char will be Imperial and being dragonborn kind of makes me feel like I have a duty to those Septim folks...

Oh wow that makes much more sense with what I've seen. Thanks for the links. You can wear capes in this game? I've been away from any Skyrim forums since April so I missed out on a lot of the news. I do know that
Spoiler
Vampires + Werewolves
have been confirmed (don't click spoilers if you really don't want to know :P) But now that I'm back I'm trying to get educated on what's new in the game before I get it Friday. It's too bad the horses look a bit fat. That's my only real complaint.

Play the game, take your time to decide, who knows what restrictions may occur after dedicating your allegiance.

Yea about this, first off its realistic and right, second off its cold and the fat on the horses will allow it to stay warm.
