Skyrim directx10 ?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 12:11 am

I've noticed there's a folder named directX10 in the Skyrim folder. Does that mean it's directx10 supported?! :)

It's not directx11 but it's better than directx9 anyway!

I'm going to bump this back to the top now that I've confirmed pre-loading is available.

Maybe it is relating to DirectX sound and input instead of Direct3D graphics?

True that a directx10 branded game isn't forced into using all the parts of it.

Speaking of which, I don't remember what was the new systems that directx10 supported. Any one remembers?

I believe the devs added a DX 11 renderer.

That means that as long as you have Windows Vista or Windows 7 and a DX 10 or DX 11 card you can take advantage of that renderer.

Unfortunately they didn't implement any DX10 ro DX 11 features, but the the DX 11 renderer is faster due to hardware level and driver level optimizations (it's also easier for the devs to use than DX 9 due to improvements on the API level).

So you'll get the same graphics, but the game will run faster/smoother.

If they also implemented DX 11's multi-threaded rendering (and they haven't said either way), then expect even further improvements in performance if you have a multi-core CPU.

Of course, better performance means you'll hgave more headroom for enabling more grpahics options, increasing view distance, adding Anti-alising, etc, etc.

Oh! Thanks for clearing that out.
Though, since it's a 32bit application, multithreading and ram is limited :( Sad.
