does skyrim offer real freedom

im not the most knowledgeable guy when it comes to skyrim i only recently picked up morrow wind and oblivion again now that im older . So my question is i wanna play a redgaurd hero who slings around a massive 2h but prefers leather Armour ..... is this a plausible build for skyrim or will i be greatly disadvantaged by not wearing heavy Armour or using a 1h wep???

Anything is possible in Skyrim, you can walk into a tavern and punch everyone in the face and call in a dragon to whoop their ass as you sip your drink.

Many playstyles work, and you can compensate for the disadvantages- Like Oblivion.

No disadvantage should be so great, that you can't overcome it...

If you can imagine a build, you can make it work.

there's nothing stopping you. the heavy armour would offer you better protection at close range but there's nothing to stop you from going through the game with light armor on melee. i've dont it for battle mages in Oblivion and Morrowind...

I don't see why this wouldn't be viable. I am planning on a playthrough without taking any perks at all. You can do whatever you want, basically.

I like this statement, and attitude. As opposed to the common modern "AMG IMBA NERF IT M YCLASS SUX" response to everything.
Remember in the old games in the past, when we just had to man up and deal with whatever the game had? If you wanted to be an unarmed monk, you just had to rely on skill and deal with it. It was part of the fun. Nowadays its just "oh lets go whine on the forums and wait for a buff patch".
