Post » Mon May 07, 2012 1:41 pm

I purchased Skyrim from steam today and have preloaded now , just feel great though there's a little missing of the paper map and the DVD as well as the box.

Anyway, all I have to do now is waiting for the great day , 11.11.11.

How you recieved game early? It said that the date of release was 11 of November and I cannot download the game up to that time. I have been training very very in Oblivion, my Nord is seven levels and has a big axe of battle and I am going to continue my character as soon as possible. Tells me as receive the game early like you! Sorry for English! It is bad.

If you purchased Skyrim through steam you can now "preload" the game. It means downloading 99.9% of the game files so when the game unlocks you can play within minutes. He still has to wait until 11-11-11 but doesn't have to worry about downloading 6gb anymore.

Just remember you still have another 1-3 gigs to download when the game unlocks. You WILL NOT be playing the game right away but downloading Same Day patch, just like with Civ V, New Vegas and many other games. Just don't want people thinking they will be able to play right away. There will be more downloading to do still.

That is a magical number you have there, where did you find it?

Preloading doesn't download some of the files, it downloads almost all of them. Our data is encrypted and the exe is missing. There's not a ton of data still to download. True, there is a day 1 patch, but it won't be 1-3 GB.

3gbs? no if the download was 5.8 and it said to be ~6.8overall (if that doesn't include steam itself) I wouldn't expect more then 2GBs at most patches are not large at all

Make sure to restart Steam! Look for the "Pre-Load" button. You should be able to start downloading now (but you cannot play until Friday).

Never used Steam before and wasn't expecting a lot from it due huge amount of downloaders but ended up with 10.1MB/s peak and total time initiated 9m 20s. :celebration:

im gonna paste this from the other thread as it seems quite dead =) I pre-loaded on steam a few hours ago.. i noticed in the steam\steamapps\common\skyrim folder that there is a Directx10 folder in there and not a directx9? i don't got much knowledge about those kind of things, just looks weird to me when people says its a directx9 game.

So if you install DX10, you will get better performance?
