Preloadinstall from disk

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 7:27 am

So I got the disk for PC and preload is available now. I thought, oh great, now I can install it! But when I put in the disk it says you can't install it because it isn't available yet or something. What's up with that? I thought you could preload through the disk when you had one?

Sorry if this has been asked.

Strange... That sounds annoying. I've got no idea.

Btw, do i have to download from Steam, even though i get the disk? Or can i just instal it? Cus if i have to download, then it means a long waiting time...

Go on steam, to your Library, and click Add game, down the bottom left. Click "Activate a game on steam" then put in your CD Key code, and preload it.

...Isn't that the same as other people preloading without a disk? Which is not what I was aiming for x(
Owell, whatevs. I got school now so I'll let it preload the old fashioned steam way.

If you have the actual disc, I assume this is the only way to get the game into your library before the actually 11.11.11 release.

It won't allow you to install it before the release, and the way I mentioned is a way to get it into your library and preloaded.

As for all the other users. We are allowed to do it that way, because we have it digitally. Meaning we don't have to put the game into our steam account via CD key.

If you already have Steam installed on your PC then you likely won't have to download anything, other than the update. When I recently installed a game on my new PC without downloading and installing Steam first, I had to download a lot.

To make it install with the disk, you may have to use some command line stuff.. as Steam tends to generally default to downloading rather than installing from the disk. Google about it to find more.
If it installs from the disk without any forcing, consider yourself lucky.

Well if you just wait till 12:00 on Thursday night and then install from disk, you won't need to download anything and it will only take like 10 minutes to install from disk. Problem solved.

Thanks guys.
