I wouldn't know, but would there be any possible way of them knowing if you unhooked your 360 from the internet for 2 days?

PC users, we can't play it until Steam unlocks, no way around it. so we just have to wait.

This should go without any doubts because it`s the retailer`s responsibility to take care of release dates rather than customers, it`s the only way things like that work. You would never ever get banned if you just played the game no matter if you got it a month or 1 day before the release (there`s a conflict ofc because no retailer gets the game month earlier lol).

VPN means that he will set up his internet connection to look like he is hailing out of Australia. "Cheating" steam to unlock it earlier. Dont know if it can be done, but I will certainly try - im sick of waiting while console users have all the fun.

Yup. That's how a bunch of people unlocked BF3 early. However, this was obviously through Origin and not Steam. Not sure if it'd work through Steam.
