Do you need to sleep? Does it help you at all?

I was thinking this last night... Does you'r character need to sleep? Does it bring any benefits? It would be kinda lame if you don't need to sleep :/. I loved oblivion style where you needed to sleep to gain level. it was a very good system. Beacause you level up instantly in Skyrim well... I dont think you need to sleep at all? I am sure there will be mod after one week where you need to eat, drink and sleep requlary or you'r character dies, i loved that in oblivion. I just cannot fiqure why Bethesda won't put that in the game.

You don't need to sleep to level this time, but sleeping does give u a bonus in terms of health regeneration or quicker lvl up or something like that. can't remember what it was but some sort of bonus for a said period of time after sleeping ;)
EDIT: Yes they have put it in a game before. Fallout 3 had bonuses after sleeping...

Casual gamers wouldn't like it if resting became an important feature of the game. Oh well. There's always mods.

On the other hand, what benefits do you get from sleeping in real life?

Basically, body and mind just need a break to gather new strength and to deal with cellular damage. People have been without sleep for long periods of time. So what can you "realistically" expect sleep to be doing for you in a videogame?

A little boost to hp and stamina would be nice and renewal of "once a day" special abilities. Maybe other, smaller boni depending on circumstances or even random.

Personally, I think it'd be well done if lack of sleep (and nurishment) would cause the max hp and stamina to drop over time and get put back to normal once you sleep and eat sufficiently.
