Fence mandatory rogue skill?

Title says it all is taking fence perk mandatory for a rogue?
Havent played oblivion was it like no merchant would accept items taken from
broken in chests (marked as stolen) ?

Nope. It's not mandatory.

It's not mandatory. But the perk would certainly make things easier (you wouldn't have to find a fence to sell all your stolen stuff).

It was that way in Oblivion but I don't know if it will be the same in Skyrim.

I hope not. I don't understand how a merchant would be able to tell a stolen item from one you procured in a dungeon. That always made no sense to me.

i enjoy having to find fences. "hot" property is something that no merchant would touch, and it makes it stealing a bit more of a fun thing for me personally

however

I think that the variables should be involved with your fame/infamy, i.e. an infamous thief character can barely sell anything to a normal vendor because they aren't trusted

Obviously its not mandatory, but the Fence perk suits a Rogue perfectly.

This I can understand, if your character makes it's living by stealing and you are well known for it, shop owners wouldn't do any business with you. In which case having a fence perk would be massively helpful.

I ment with mandatory like its impossible to sell stolen goods without which would svck
but if there are normal fences obtainable through the thieves guild all is good.

Even if there are Fences in the Thieves Guild i'm still gonna invest in the Fence perk for RP reasons.
