Some shops have broken the release date. Your best bet would probably be to ring up your local shop and see what they say.

Why couldn't your friends just tell you where and you go check?

If it's for sale, it's on a location-by-location basis. It'll be harder to find people near you here than just asking people where you live.

Multiple shops in The Netherlands and Belgium are already selling copies of Skyrim.
Like mentioned before, contact the gamestore where you pre-ordered/normally buy games and see if they are one of them.

Hence why the game is locked by Steam. So even if there are traitors among the resellers you can still not play the game.

Unless you're on a console, in which case you're good to go. If you're a PC player OP then you won't be able to play until Steam lets you.

The xbox360 and PS3 heretics do not have such locks in place. :swear:

i was thinking, they've already said there's gonna be a day one patch...i'd laugh heartily if that patch changed the game save format so that folks playing before launch were set back to zero.

If the game's as good as I think it will be, I don't see how going back a few hours will be too much of a problem - just head off in a different direction to switch things up a bit! :tes:

That's what makes a patch a patch, no loss of data.

I bought the game yesterday, no problem. If you buy it for pc, you'll have to wait till 11/11 to be able to play it, though.

This used to be a problem back in the 90s, for instance there was a major patch for Fallout (I cant remember if it was 1 or 2) that fixed major bugs, but you had to restart the game for it to go into effect. I haven't really heard of any patch having that problem in 10+ years though
