Serious problem with the PS3 version of Skyrim

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 11:10 am

Hi there,
I've been playing Skyrim for some time now and have two major issues I hope you can help me with ;-)
This post is about the PS 3 version of the game.

1. : There is no way ingame to adjust the screen settings. I'm playing on a 42" LCD TV and the game
screen is overlapping to the left and right so I don't see the full screen. There is no ingame option to
adjust it AND I tried all modes of the TV itself but to no effect :-/

2. : My TV shows me that the game runs at 576i only and I have to say many items and parts of
the scenery look rather awful (night sky and stuff look great.....but ferns and bushes and stuff....not)
and I wasn't able to find awayto switch resolutions and/or improve the overall graphic quality. :-/

Any tips and hints will be appreciated ;-)

That screen setting issue should be either set on the TV or on your ps3 screen settings (at the launch screen).

As for the degree of details etc, well if you dont like it try the PC version. There are no ways to improve your graphics on console versions of the game.

How do you have Skyrim already? Did you pirate it or are the stupid stores selling them early?

Number 1 is a problem with your tv, methinks. I played RDR on my HDTV and it did the same thing. I then switched it to a better TV, and it was fixed. It isn't the game.

Number 2 sounds like another problem with your TV. The game is supposed to run in 720p (or 1080p?).

Edit: It isn't a "serious problem with the PS3 version", it's, most likely, your TV's fault.

I am sorry to say, although I don't have a PS3, I don't think you're capable of altering the resolution, that's what a console game has to offer, the thing with the screen not being showed fully, that is something to tell Gstaff about, maybe they can provide help, once the hardware and troubles section of the forums is released the 11/11/11.

The problem you have has nothing to do with skyrim ps3 version of the game or the ps3 in general. I have the same type of Tv and I don't have that problem, yoou should contact your tv manufacture and ask for help. What brand of TV you use?, mine is Samsung.

These are not problems with the game, they are problems with your TV or your PS3 settings.

TES games are designed for PC. Console ports don't live up to the same standards.

Skyrim was optimized for the 360... it's not a port. I was under the impression that the PC version was a port. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

How is your ps3 connected to your tv? Through hdmi cable?
If yes then go to your ps3 display settings and set the output to 720p or 1080p depending on whethet your tv is HD ready or full HD.
if it is connected through scart or composite just go and buy an hdmi cable, assuming that you have a free hdmi port in the back of the tv..

The amount of PC elitist trolls on this thread is just sad.

On topic, while I wouldn't know for sure, it sounds like your PS3's settings are wrong, I had a similar problem years ago, where the resolution kept reverting to 480p, which caused the image to be cropped.
Check the system settings, and maybe try restarting it a couple of times.

I really wish people could just stop trolling every thread with the "pc rules, console svcks" attitude. It feels like the kindergarden took over the forum.

On another note to the OP, your thread title is very misleading.
