Character Creation Dilemma

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 2:18 pm

Yea it's another "no idea what I'm going to make" thread, but it's a few days from release and we're all thinking about the game extensively so Why Not?

Anyway, I'm thinking I'll make a scout/ranger type character focused mainly on ranged and mobility, but that's not the dilemma. What I'm split between is whether I make it an Imperial, Nord, Dunmer or whatever else. I'm pretty certain I'll side with the empire on this one, so I'm leaning towards imperial solely for that fact. I'm the type of person that has to be the race that fits in best, which is why Dunmer and the other races are at the opposite end of my choices, though they work better for the character build I'm going on.

I'm loving the imperial legion armor and setup I've seen in all of the trailers and vids so far, and I'm a bit of a military enthusiast so it works out that way... But, I want my character to fit in with this. If I chose imperial then no doubt it would fit best.. but it seems too generic. I don't really like the idea of choosing the most human race in a fantasy game, doesn't feel right. But, if I chose any other race I'd have to fanangle with backstory and make something up that works, and I'd never feel part of the team once I did.

Mostly I'm looking for something to help alleviate my fears of being too generic and perhaps a little help on making the other races fit in better with the Legion than I'm seeing.

Also, feel free to piggy back on this thread if anybody else out there needs help with deciding anything like this.

Hey im the same exact way when it comes to this. In oblivion i always chose an imperial simply because its the most human to me. Honestly, i have faith that bethesda makes each race type unique and i dont think one is better than the other. It wouldnt make sense if they did set it up like that. anyways if u feel like u are betraying something by not being an imperial then dont haha, and i guess on that note, dont worry so much. no body is judging who u will be. thats the beauty about games like that this. We make the story our own and have the ability to make it more than once. just have fun!

It's not that I love being Imperial, it's just that in a story perspective, it doesn't make much sense for say... a dark elf to be part of the Legion in retaking Skyrim.. and whether you make a great backstory or not, you never feel like you fit in.. given the blue skin and whatnot :3

My advice (which I will most likely be following myself) is to just sit and play with the character creation for a while until you stumble upon something you enjoy.
