Yeah I am in Thailand at the moment teaching, and my countdown is saying 1 day and 10 hours left as well. I assume it is a miscalculation by Steam because thats would be almost the 12th, but who knows if they will fix it anytime soon. I am not really sure how to set up a VPN so I don't know if I will be able to go that route either. Living here has been pretty fun, but I wish I could teleport back home to the U.S. and load the game tonight....or better yet hope a flight to Australia haha!

The reason for this might actually be because of BF3 players. Quite a few of them used S.Korean and other Asian IP's to get their game early. Perhaps steam wanted to curtail this by giving it to us later than everyone else. They didn't bother with Aussies though so I don't get how this would make a difference. Perhaps because Asian IPs are much easier to find...

I wish I had an Australian friend who could unlock it for me ; ;

Well if by some chance that did turn out to be true, that would be a ridiculous company strategy. At least allow the game to unlock in accordance with U.S. Eastern time which is what I was expecting at first. Even Pacific time would be faster than what I am getting now. Kinda svcks, but oh well I can't really do much about it. Guess I will just keep my fingers crossed that its a mistake that will be fixed before midnight here.

My NZ friend wants to help me. Is it as simple as him going onto my steam and pressing a big shiny "unlock" button or must he install it first too?

I'm not sure. He might have to install it as well. As long as his connection is good it won't take him long though. Also, if he does that for you make sure you connect to steam off line. I've heard that if you connect online after unlocking it will just re-lock it.

It's not that easy. Your friend cannot activate it for you. If you do that, it's your friend who will be able to play the game, not you.

You need to connect to Steam using an IP address from Australia/New Zealand using your own computer with Skyrim pre-loaded.

Why does asia have to wait 1 extra day, when aussies and kiwis don't need to? I don't understand steam.

Edit: Can we get some confirmation from aussies and kiwis? What does the Skyrim page on Steam say for you? How long do you have to wait?

You don't need the natives to confirm this. Add "/?cc=au" to the Steam store's URL. The countdown for AU/NZ currently reads:

Available: 10 November 2011
This game will unlock in approximately 6 hours

What is the meaning of this? Why is there a 1 day delay for us? Australia is GMT+10, we are GMT+8. How can they make such a big mistake with 24 hours difference? :swear:

It was on twitter that the times were all currently wrong. Let's just hope something changes soon...

Let me clarify this. Pete Hines, Bethesda's own Vice President, said that the Steam timer was wrong the day before it was updated to the current time.

Again: The delay we're seeing only came into effect after Pete said that they were working to 'fix' it, and if anyone's wondering, the original unlock time was only about 7 hours earlier than the current one.

Looks like we're sort of like second-class citizens.

EDIT: Not that I'm angry about it or anything. Just mildly annoyed. Don't take my 'second-class' statement too seriously!

So in Hong Kong it says 1 day and 8 hours. This can't be correct?

Mine hasn't changed at all in the last week.

Can we bother them on twitter some more?

I think the change was applied during the night between November 3 and 4. Not 100% sure about that though.

As for Twitter, I tried to ask Pete several times but he never responded. You can find him at @DCDeacon if you want to try.

Why must we get it 1 day later? Unlike Japan, obviously we are meant to get it on the 11th as well.
Timezones? Australia and New Zealand will get it in a few hours. What reasoning is it to delay it for us by 1 day?

svcks. Still 1 day 5 hours here. I should have been able to play it 5 hours from now as stated many times. Now I only have 2 days of gametime.
