Shield On Back?

Anyone know if your shield sits on your back when you aren't using it?

Bethesda is so stubborn with details like this..

No, it stays in your hand as it should.

2-handers go on your back when you're not readied for combat. I've seen videos of that. Same with bows.

I assume Shield's do too. And your 1-handers are sheathed.

I can't find any videos at the moment to link shields though. I'll keep looking.

Yeah that one detail always bothered me. When I see my character in third person it would look so much cooler if his shield was on his back. More of a Link kind've thing :D

And Gothic series too. Oblivion had a mod for this.

Boromir was not expecting to equip the shield on a moment's notice.

It's quite easy to shrug the shield off its shoulder strap onto your arm if you need it. It also doubles as extra protection against getting shot in the back by an archer.

In the demo with Todd, the shield is not on his back.

How easy? I'm not intimately familiar with the process, so my stubborness is born of ignorance. But I can't see moving it around to your arm in the same amount of time or with the same fluidness as a sword draw.

I never heard anything about shields being on the PC's back.

Shield on back is a myth. No warrior actually did/ would do this. It just takes too long to get a shield off your back if you are locked in a fight situation. Unless under heavy marskman-fire, you will never tie your shield up your back.
