This needs to be clarified!

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 3:47 pm

We need to know this because a lot of europeans have pre ordered the game from the UK! E-mail from Amazon UK when inquiring about region lock:

"Upon some investigation i have found that if you are not within the UK you may not be able to activate the game as it may be region locked to the UK.

This information will need to be clarified with Steam themselves as the game has not been released as of yet but The Steam Forums are temporarily offline for maintenance.
I personally did some further investigation & found this here: http://www.giantbomb.com/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/61-33394/skyrim-pc-might-be-regionlocked-between-eu-countries/35-514804/

It'd be good if...i dunno, we knew something about this before the orders are dispatched so that we can cancel? Come on Bethesda/Zenimax, give us something concrete.

It's a shame you weren't active on this board a month ago when people were crying about this.

You'd think it'd be better for him to participate in it back then?

That's as helpful as a rotten apple

Is the game region locked or not? A lot of people care, judging by Amazon UK's forum

Those acorns could turn to the sea very quick. Specially if no...rum is provided.

Response from amazon.co.uk about region lock:

Upon some investigation i have found that if you are not within the UK you may not be able to activate the game as it may be region locked to the UK.

Bumping is frowned upon, and if you're that worried about compatibility, don't pre-order the game. Wait until the morning of the release, and then see if there any complaints.

No because it's the publisher that decides, not steam.

If it were that important, you should have looked into it before 36 hours until release.

Or maybe i didn't look into it because there is no info hinting at it at online stores? It's not like it's a common thing. It almost happened with DEHR but it didn't. Aside from that, never happened before. If i hadn't seen it on Amazon forum i wouldn't even know

Fault doesn't really matter at this point, only a resolution. And this close to launch, I would be surprised if any answers are given.

God there's a lot of love in this thread.

Sorry I can't help. I don't know the answer. Apparently some people do, but they find it amusing to flame you rather than answer.

No, they really don't have to. And even if they were going to, they probably wouldn't do it here.

Hello,

Chances are that the game will be locked to different regions through Steam. I would get the game for the Region you intend on playing it for to avoid any possible issues.

Finally,
From Amazon.co.uk:

"Region Lock
Please note: Bethesda have confirmed that Russia is the only region-locked country. No other countries are region-locked."
