How often will you fast travel?

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 9:26 pm

In Oblivion i used it some as at times it was just too much to walk everywhere but i think im going to try to avoid useing it in skyrim at least during my first 10-20 hours of the game. It feals more natural and rewarding that way i think.

Anyone else plan to do the same?

I plan to only fast travel from city to city.

I will probably not stick to that plan, because I am a horrible.. eh... stick-to-plan guy

i have sort of promised my self to not fast travel at all, at least with my first couple of characters.

i remember in oblivion, it got really boring to fast travel between everything.. not really seeing the world.

I try not to fast travel too much, unless I need to finish a quest quickly because I have to do RL stuff. I did it a lot in Oblivion, but walking was kinda boring in that game. In Fallout 3, walking was a lot more rewarding, so I think it will be the same in Skyrim.

I only like fast traveling if on some fetch quest - then I fast travel back to city, then back to where I was.

I plan on RARELY using it. I barely used it in Fallout 3 so I plan on sticking to that. It's not fun to ignore the world.

I rarely fast traveled in Oblivion. That's how you stumble upon all those cool distractions!

I originally didn't fast travel much in Oblivion. Partly because I had no idea the feature existed, and also because after I discovered it, I still liked exploring on the way. But after a while I started using fast travel more and more (especially when overburdened with loot and using a feather potion to fast travel to a city). Come FO3, I ended up using it quite a bit. Especially in the city ruins because of the invisible walls and sometimes roundabout routes you'd have to take to get form point A to point B. However in FO:NV I tried to really limit my fast traveling.

In Skyrim I want to try to limit my fast-travel as much as possible. Sometimes it's a matter of practicality, but I'm gonna make a concerted effort to abstain from fast-travel. With the number of awesome randomly generated content and all the neat stuff hinted at out in the wilds.... I don't wanna miss stumbling on that stuff.

When I am playing by myself and can get into my character, little to none

When I'm playing with my brother, like i will be tonight after release, probably more.

It might be sh*tty, but I dont wanna do more than just kill people when I'm playing with my brother, it will ruin the stoy for me if he acts like he normally does "THAT ISN'T REALISTIC HERP DERP" "HEY KILL THAT GUY! LOLOLOL"

Eventually, I will work up to fast-traveling constantly.

First 15, 20, 30 hours of gameplay? Probably very little, if at all.

(I'm about 3 hours deep into a game, and haven't even thought about Fast Traveling yet. but (spoilers ahead:) you start out basically in Riverwood, and I haven't even ventured much past Whiterun. That's right. I've spent 3 hours in that small area.)

Just don't use it? The ability to turn it off would be dumb. Do you really not have any self control, and just not use it?

Very very little to none. You miss so many interesting things when you fast travel.

I don't want to use fasttravel... but I can't help myself haha, used it all the time in Oblivion and Fallout games. Hopefully there is like a hardcoe mode without fastravel, like the good old morrowind days.^^

When it's convenient. Judging from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YZctTgENLY, despite the claims that the game is dense with interesting things... The player didn't do much other than kill a bunch of wolves. So yes, I'll be skipping the seemingly pointless encounters and popping around when need be. I get my exploration done when I'm on quests.

At first, almost never. Once I've played for a few days, however, that might change

I try to never fast travel. After I've played a very long time I may, depending on how mundane the world is, but with radiant quests triggered and whatnot, the more you don't fast travel the more chances you have of encountering an event to pretend and incorporate into your personal story line.

I'll try to fast travel as little as possible. But if I'm overweight and need to sell stuff then I'll use it, less downtime, more exploring.

I used it quite often in OB, but y'know what? I don't think I'm gonna use it in Skyrim at all, what with the awesome music and exploring and all,

Frequently, just like in Oblivion and Fallout 3..... not having to waste lots of time walking back and forth to town/shop/home greatly improves my ability to spend time exploring and appreciating the landscape.

And I love exploring. Using FT lets me spend more time doing it.

1 st play through I won't use fast travel. Once i've completed it then I might use it with the next character.
