1st Person vs 3rd Person

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 10:46 pm

Personally, I'm going to use the third person view when exploring and walking around because I like the larger field of view and seeing my armour. Switching to first person when in combat.
Not sure if this will break immersion though.

How are you going to play?

I was planning to play similarly to your plan. My problem in Oblivion with 3rd person was it made aiming spells or arrows very difficult. I will probably try both on and off constantly. I also love looking at my character, but more of having the ability to zoom on their shoulder like FO3 and FONV.

Third-person all the way! I just hope it's better than Oblivion's, because Oblivion's was terribad. :E

First-person gets so meh after a while, not being able to see that awesome armor you wear or your character for that matter.

3rd person, I prefer to see what's going on around me, rather than just looking at 2 hands.

Exclusively First Person.

Unless I'm riding a Horse, in which case I have no choice and it'll be Third person. Why didn't you include a First Person horse ride, Beth? Oh well.

I roleplay like crazy with a journal and all, and I will be playing with both. Mostly 1st person though.

Seeing my own character is not immersive to me. 1st person view.

This! I love to see my gear and my character but it is waaayyyyy too hard to fight unless in 1st person. I am basing this off of Oblivion though; Skyrim may be diiferent. In Oblivion it was hard to aim without the 1st person reticule.

after playing the game on the PC for 2 hours as a melee character i gotta say that im pretty happy with the 3rd person view.
im playing with toggle walk ON and only when i hold SPACE i run so the movement is heavy, slow and realistic. battles do not look floaty if u run all the time and when combat is like that it looks pretty good in 3rd person. i zoom the camera as close as i can so i am close to my character. archery still works great in 3rd person. im loving the new camera.
i hated how bad animations looked in oblivion but this is definitely a step forward. a pretty big on in many cases.

when exploring its gonna be a mix of both view points but generally i stick to 3rd person for melee close range combat and first person for long range bow attacks etc

I plan to stick to 1st person.
But i may hit 3rd form time to time if it helps in combat(can see behind you).

However I am a 1st person snob, i will always think of 3rd person as that thing the Con-Slow users like.

I'm probably going with the 3rd person view, don't really enjoy 1st person playing very much at all, but we'll see.
