Steam is a curse on PC games and the creator should be castrated and sent in to the desert naked. I get the game at 12.01 and then have to wait 9 hours for it to down load its a crime that a new game needs a 9 hour patch.

Edit: all forcing steamworks does is encourage piracy... plain and simple. Of course i would never pirate their game but it does make it easier than going through steam.

It's funny because the creator is Valve and they've been widely praised for their continued support of PC Gaming

i.e. All of their games are made primarily for the PC
Most of their major titles receive free DLC and content on the PC

You could have pre-loaded yesterday and you wouldn't have to wait. I don't understand people that feel the need to blame Steam for what is clearly a PEBKAC error.

Do you feel cool trying to act like a mod? There are mods for a reason, let them do their job, and stop trying to feel empowered.

Games primarily made for the PC don't end up with brain damaged user interfaces dumbed down to console level.

Uh... none of their games tend to have that. Valve didn't make Skyrim.

But uh, before I come off as a really devoted fan, yeah, Valve has faults, and I get people not liking being forced to use Steam. I just thought it was ironic.... Eh.

People have no patience anymore. Of course the servers are getting hammered; a lot of people are wanting to play. This is why they had a pre-load two days ago: to ease the strain on the servers and let you play quicker. You have no reason to blame Steam if you didn't pre-load or your Internet connection svcks.

I don't think most of the ppl that constantly complain about steam really understand it or even have good reasons to. Yeah the hack svcks but nothing is safe on the web. I have plenty of protection on my accounts so not worried. Also steam lets me preload, sync with friends, buy awesome bundle deals, play demos, communicate with my friends without xfire or vent, buy games without having to go to the store, support Valve one of the best companies of all time in my opinion. Yeah steam is pretty horrible. I think ppl just like to cry, complain what ever. If you don't like it then don't use it?

Don't want any of those things. I just would just like to play my single player game that I bought on disc without having to go through Steam. It is completely useless to me, and from reading these forums, is likely to cause me trouble. I would be overjoyed to not use Steam, just give me my game.
