Edge of the map

Wondering if anyone has been to the edges of Skyrim and if yes why does it look like looking toward cyrodiil. Also when you get to the edge of the map what is stopping you from going further, invisible walls, mountains etc....

Also can you go virtually anywhere you like, go in anything you see?

Supposedly invisible walls have been confirmed, but that's not such a terrible thing. As much as I loved Morrowind, setting every game on an island just wouldn't be feasible, so invisible walls are a necessity (unless every land is separated by impassable mountains, but that's just be boring, right?).
