Steam - error, what a surprise

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 4:47 am

Loaded game, saw no game icon so clicked on the Steam icon on my desktop and hit the button for play Skyrim.

Got message:

This game is currently unavailable, please try again later.

So what's the point of having a non-MMO game that you can't play?

Is it currently unlocked in your location?

This may help if so.

it's just steam servers being hit hard. this happens from time to time. even when there isn't a new release, an anticipated update for a game like TF2 can cause the steams servers to return "game not available"

keep trying, or try restarting steam.

If this is a taste of what Steam is like I wish I never purchased the damn thing.

this is what happens when you have thousands and thousands of people try to download gigabytes of data from a bank of servers. just restart steam. all will be ok, I promise you.

Well you were wrong, it still has that message.

If this is the future of gaming they can shove it.

I got the retail copy too (UK), the disc loaded Steam, then you make an account at Steam, then it copies the files from your disc. At least that's what it did for me.

I have always hated steam and always will. You would think the steam would just be for activation but no...can't even install the thing without steam.

OK, OP just needs to wait for Steam to unlock the game. This thread has served it's purpose.
