Where are my Bosomers at?

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 3:35 am

I played a bosmer first in Morrowind and Oblivion. Fun facts I learned from reading all the books about Bosmer in game:

Bosmer means "tree-sap people"

Bosmer have been at war with the Khajiit for years. The Bosmer see everything within the Valenwood as their territory, and left alone the Valenwood grows to cover the deserts of Elsweyr. The Khajiit set the edges of Valenwood on fire every so often to keep the Bosmer from encroaching, which the Bosmer see as an act of desecration. If you see a Khajiit with a torch, SHOOT HIM IN THE FACE!

Devout Bosmer take the green oath, which forbids them from harvesting or eating plant matter. They can make use of plant matter that other races have harvested, but the truly devout won't even do that. Bosmer traditionally make their bows and arrows from laminated bone. They are carnivores.

Devout Bosmer sometimes file their teeth into points as a show of piety.

The heart of a skooma-addicted Khajiit is a delicacy to a Bosmer. (The skooma makes the meat sweeter.)

Bosmer like to get drunk off of some kind of punch made from fermented blood. It causes hallucinations in Imperials.

When Valenwood is under dire threat, the Bosmer can go nuclear. A group of devout Bosmer perform a secret ritual that transforms them into murderous, ravenous beast-folk. The group, called the Wild Hunt, tears through the wood, eating everything in its path, until there is nothing left to devour. Then the group devours itself in a cannibalistic orgy of destruction. The Bosmer believe that the monsters that stalk Nirn are all remnants from past Wild Hunts. They can still communicate to some extent with these transformed Bosmer, which is where the Bosmer get their Beast Tongue racial power.

In Morrowind there was an eye option for Bosmer that gave them completely black eyes. Kind of creepy. They took it out in Oblivion, but modders put it back in. I like to think that the black eyes signifies Bosmer who witnessed a Wild Hunt and somehow survived. (But that's my own made-up lore.... just thought I'd share.)

So. Pretty elves in green tights? Not so much.

I love the Bosmer!

Bosmer has and will always be my first character on every TES game. Perfect for my playstyle, and there is just something unique about them. They are the pariahs of Tamriel with no real connection the the empire, and they don't fall victim to traditional elf fare the likes of tolkien, aside from a connection with nature.

"At the end of the Third Era, the political system of Valenwood was in shambles, with the tribal council not having met in decades, and most decisions were taken within families or clans. As government weakened, other forces seemed to stir. The Wild Hunt was sighted for the first time in five centuries, and a Bosmer prophet known as The Precursor has arisen. He preaches that Y'ffre, the Forest God, "is returning with new gifts for his favored people."

Sounds like the perfect makings of TES VI: Valenwood.

From a role-playing perspective,

because Bosmer have taken the green oath, would chopping wood be a no-go?

Absolutely. But if you want to get around it, hire an Imperial to chop wood for you. Then eat him.

Depends on how hard core you want your Bosmer to be about not harming plant life. Technically the Green Pact only applies to vegetation in Valenwood

Woo Bosmer!

My main character these days (since Oblivion) and a male. Usually a Greek name that relates to what he does.

Skills: Archery, Sneak, Alchemy, One Handed, with some Smithing, Light Armor, and Pickpocket

I like the sound of Valenwood. We just have to wait for Bethesda to be done with Fallout 4 (if they are working on it) and hopefully a new IP.

Bosmers really suit my play style in TES games, since I love archery. This time I'll be rolling a Bosmer archer with dual swords as backup, Legolas - style

Only 3.5 hours till the midnight release which I sadly won't be going to since I joined the Skyrim hype a bit late but all is good. Just need to return my 360 so I can get a new one. Now it completely doesn't read any discs. I need to it before Black Friday (date I bought 360 last year) before the warranty expires. Man does this svck.

I'm making a bunch of characters, but definitely looking forward to my Bosmer.

Only planning on Perks for 3 skills: Archery, Sneak, and Light Armor, in that order. She'll use other skills, but not boost them with Perks. Well, maybe Alchemy.

She's going to be insane to play as I intend to go full fundamentalist. Eat everyone I kill, never harm plants, the whole nine yards. She's also going to be pretty paranoid of Nord cities, especially ones with lots of log cabins and other wooden structures. Basically I'm going to see how much fun I can have never going to the cities, or rarely at most.

My Bosmer will be an Arcane Archer Skills: archery for long range and magic for everything else, wearing light armor and no melee weapons. I just need to figure out what my character name will be, I'm thinking Lindberg after my favorite trombonist
