Need answer quick b4 i pick up preorder

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 1:28 pm

i have skyrim preordered, and where i live, it will be released in 1 hour/45min. So i have until then to decide to get it for my ps3 or my computer.

i want to get it for my pc, but idk if it can handle it (it can play Rift on almost fully maxed settings/ rift is an extremely graphics intensive mmorpg)

my basic pc system specs:

AMD athlon x4 640 3.0Ghx quad core
2x Radeon 4670 1GB ddr3 gfx cards, 320 stream processors on each and 800mhz core clocks, running them in crossfire
4gig of ddr3 1333mhz of ram

running hdmi to my 32 inch monitor.

let me know how high of settings u think i can run the game and at what framerate.
im thinking i can run on max settings seems how i can play rift at max and that game requires loading of somtimes 200 players in one area during a zone raid vs skyrim is just myself but idk
i have oblivion for my ps3 not pc so i have nothing to compare it to ><
a quick answer would be much appreciated.

You should probably get a nice framerate on high settings.

I've played for a bit and can give you pros/cons from PC point of few:

+ Better graphics (atleast with your PC)
+ Can set fov (field of view) to a different amount, this prevented me from barfing.
+ Mods
+ The controls feel really nice when you're used to them.

- The UI is clearly made for consoles.

Get it on PC. You can customize the game with mods... why would you choose anything else???

Ummm...how about just making your own decision based on what system you would rather play the game.

(P.S. Why would you even question getting it on PC? You can use mods. It's a no brainer.)

ps3

an explanation would be nice ><

the ps3 has a gfx card equivalent of that of 7700gt nvidia / 800core clock/112 stream processors i think (it uses an nvidia RSX card /ps3 exclusive card) vs mine is basically that but i got two of the cards andi got 3x the stream processors per card ><

PC is the only real option taken how badass the modding community is for the elder scrolls series.

i want to do the modding stuff cuz it sounds fun and isnt limited like consol, but i dont want to do that if i lag to [censored]..

i want to run smooth framerate, but not have to turn the graphics down to a diablo 2 point ><

ive never gamed on pc cept for WoW and now Rift. i really have nothing to compare it to cuz skyrim is single player vs rift/wow are thousands of players in the game at the same time / etc

In general TES mods won't slow down your system unless they directly change something affecting performance, like Open Cities for Oblivion. If its something like UI, or armor/weapons, custom housing, it won't affect your performance.

ok well, heres the other thing, which i dont know if anyone would know yet, but, some games default the system to run the game on a single core, and in turn slowing it down/not allowing it to unleash the full power of the system. Does skyrim utilize full system capabilities or does it limit threads per core / limit to single core loads?

Rift utilizes a single core. thats why i ask cuz it the only graphically instensive game that i play for pc (wow was a complete joke for graphics in comparison)

if skyrim utilizes all cores, then i know for a fact i can set skyrim on uber ultra max settings :P

im not asking which is better, cuz i know pc is, thats a no brainer, i was simply asking if someone with a lot of computer knowledge knew if my setup could run the game and what settings/fps

i know my system is good but far from the best.. im all about the graphics and smooth gameplay at maxed settings. mods/addons come second to my intrests. :D
