Is this game so hard?

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 2:10 am

After i did my 2nd main story quest, i recieved a letter of a friend. To checkout some crater and to learn more dragon breath words.

But, im lvl 6 a huge guy of a Nord, but i really have difficulties staying alive when exploring. I got 1 hitted my a Sabertooth cat, i got pwnd by a pair of bandits, and when i finnally got to the dragon, damn, i didn't even do damage to the creature.

Is lvl 6 to ealry to freely explore the world, and to slay dragons?? I also played with the difficulty levels a bit, but without succes.

This is not a rant, i totally love the game..

Maybe i just have to follow the main storyline for a bit first? till i reach lvl 10 / 12 before freely exploring the world?

In Oblivion your enemies kind of leveled with you, isn't this the case on Skyrim? I mean, that Sabertooth cat was one hell of a enemy, finnally, after 4 tries to kill it, i sneaked around it. Never had this issue in Oblivion. If this is the case, i love it!! :D

It makes me feel i have to learn a lot (roleplaying wise).. In oblivion i alsways had the feeling i could handle every enemy, so i wasn't so carefull with exploring.

So far it is looking pretty good as far as the difficulty goes much better than OB was with the level scaling -- though I did get killed in the first dungeon I explored (during the Golden claw quest) just by stepping on a single trap on the ground even though I was at full health at the time.

yes, even this quest was very difficuld, those skeletons in the dungeon were very strong, this was the first time i lowered the difficulty settings.

Also just killed by an extremely similar, non-spoiler trap

I think I'll one day be able to complete The Companions first quest.

Yeah it is pretty hard. The Restless Ghoul in the dungeon of the Golden Claw killed me in 2 hits.
I forgot to save so I came back to the point where you free the thief.
I guess we need to save often... :S

Are you taking care of your perks ? When I get killed in games fast I usually get killed because I'm not taking care of proper leveling up :) (dividing skill points ,or in Skyrim, picking perks, making better armor, sharpening your blades ecetra )

edit; before I forget; hoard health potions and put then on your fast bar !

Yeah, already died 5+ times, it is difficult in some situations. Especially meeting long range opponents, my two-hand melee Warrior versus cowardly long range Spellcasters is a huge pain in the butt. It's nice with a challenge though!

Yes, i think so.

Im making a dual wielded 7 foot tall Nord.. LOL

As for now, i unlocked the: Block, singelhanded, restoration, archer, dualhanded perks, and craftmansship. These are all lvl 1 perks now though. And i did sharpen my blades, upgraded my armor, hell, i even made me my own steel armor.. I think ill just go with the storyline for now, and do the side quests that i encounter. When i reach lvl 12, ill try again to kill that dragon.
